Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 12, 2003
*strolling along the beach, close to the water line*
*throwing pebbles into the water*
*stopping every now and then, contemplating the rings on the surface of the water, spreading*
*continues her leisurely walk*

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 12, 2003
*spots the towel and approaches it*
*looks around, but doesn't see anyone in the immediate vicinity of the towel*
*squats*
*tilts head, looks at the stones*
*picks one up, and then another*
*begins arranging the stones in a pattern on the towel*

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 12, 2003
*looks up, smiles at Hapi without saying anything*
*looks down, continues arranging the stones in a pattern*
The Seaside
Hati Posted Aug 12, 2003
*walks out from the forest*
Hapi, I wanted to ask if... Oops! You are not alone! Sorry...
Oh, Titania, it's you!
*tries to figure out what Ti is doing*
The Seaside
Hapi - Hippo #5 Posted Aug 12, 2003
* observes the pattern *
* quickly makes some calculations *
* assumes that in several thousand years archeologists will wonder *

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 12, 2003
*doesn't look up, but Hati can still feel a smile being aimed at her*
*completes the pattern by placing the last stones into their spaces*
*stands up, squints, leans back, squints again*
*nods to herself*
*leaves the stones, and the pattern, to be contemplated by others*
*what they will see depends on who is watching*
*continues walking along the sea shore, slowly drifting out of sight*

Hi Titania, Hati and Hapi I hope you are all keeping well.
When my grandparents went to the seaside, (they would walk there every day from Ashington to Newbiggen which is a 2 1/2 mile walk, right up to their 80's. When the sea was stormy my grandfather would say that it sounds like the sea is talking to us.

Hi Red!
The sea is so beautiful, even if it is angry, isn't it?
If it gets too cold out here feel free to join me and my other guests at the livingroom. And don't get confused by similarity of the names fe me and Hapi.
The livingroom can be found here: F95414?thread=199355&post=4505906#p4505906

Blue-Eyed BiPedal BookWorm from Betelgeuse (aka B4[insertpunhere]) Posted Jun 8, 2004
{The shoreline runs in both directions, broadening out and narrowing in a serpentine weave, as it follows the edge of the rocky forested promontory. B4 basks in the warmth of the sun for a moment, with eyes closed. Then, moving slowly toward the lapping waters, he begins to follow the stretch of shore.}
{After a few minutes of walking, he stops, kneels first with one foot forward, then the other, untying the laces of his shoes. He removes both and ties the laces together, then slings them over his left shoulder, one resting against his chest, the other laying against his back.}
Aaaah… That’s better! It’s been too long since I’ve had sand between my toes. Let’s see if I still remember how to keep my footing on this shifting surface…

{B4 walks on for a short distance when his attention is drawn to something flapping in the breeze, on the sand, about halfway between the hillside and the water’s edge. A few strides bring him abreast of the object and he recognizes it as a towel.}
Wonder who left this here? Hmm… Looks like it’s been here a while. Covered with sand on this side; and this corner’s fluttering in the wind. It’s a wonder the thing didn’t blow away in all this time. But then, these rocks atop it must have kept it in place…
{B4 squats down to take a closer look and reaches out to touch them.}
Hey, these stones are… well… different… They seem to be arranged in a loose formation roughly resembling… No! That couldn’t be!
{He looks over his shoulder, then scans the length of the beach, as if searching for something that should be there to accompany what he’s already found before him.}
No one would just leave a gæthø d'ur lying out on a beach towel… where just anyone could accidentally stumble upon it and…
{Without really thinking through the consequences, he reaches out as if to pick up one of the pebbles on the outer rim of the stone pattern and--
