A Conversation for Are any of you in Love??
Nasty Transition Periods

OK, I'm only posting this because I'm a bottle and a half of down, and my relationships are one of the few things I don't like to talk about publicly.
It's a nasty time passing graduation. I've just split up with a girl because I've told her (not directly) my intentions are to settle down long-term, and that freaked her out. Now I'm finding it very hard to form relationships because I cannot see myself going through any more one-night stands (of which I have had far too many), and am petrified of being dumped for the same reasons as the above girlfriend. There are many more issues regarding trust and intimacy that I am finding it hard to bring into the relationships, because of any future partners' reactions.
On the the plus side, I can see the advantages of remaining an eliglble(-ish) bachelor for the rest of my life.

relationships are a b*tch, and that's just the sad reality. personally, i wish people would rely more on themselves, be a little more polyamorous in nature, and not need to tie themselves to a particular human. the ties that bind should be mutual enjoyment of each others love and company, not papers signed in blood or fear or propriety...feh. rantrantrant...personally i'm just completely confused by love.

The key word there is 'polyamorous', isn't it.
That, in itself, just leads to bitterness, arguments, and lots of drinking by one's self.

I'm not so sure. I mean our current system is obviously bunk. I'm quite willing to participate in some sociological experimenting..

Me too, invariably. It's just that my partners tend to think otherwise.
