alright....
handy tip for those sporting a brand new barbed wire fence: EAT ICE CREAM. not only is it V. cold (numbs teeth) it is mushy...and at this stage mushy = GOOD. however, if you are allergic to dairy products (such as myself) decide that you never really liked your liver anyway and start taking hideous amounts of pain killers...
also, sore teeth are a great excuse for not working

teacher:"why haven't you written your essay, it was due today"
you: "i got my braces tightened yesterday and it hurts so much i forgot"
no really, it worked....

I'll have to try that. I remember the first teacher I tried to get sympathy from had braces as well, so I was a bit discouraged...

late 30s. At that point, how much life do you have to live? Why would you bother improving them if you have to suffer during the ones where you're supposed to... have a job... and do stuff?
