What goes around, comes around.
These comments were made about The Beatles in the 1960s and Elvis Presley in the 1950s.
I understand Mozart was considered a bit rubbish at composition - one critic complained he used 'too many notes'.
Thing is, music's probably as good or as bad as it ever was. Guitarists were blamed for the collapse of the big band orchestras of the 1950s. Synthesisers were blamed for the lack of opportunity for guitarists. but as Pop Idol has shown, there's still room for Big Bands 50 years later.

Hiya!
This is a nice little piece on popular music, but it is quite opinionated, and could be seen as a bit of a rant - however, it could be a very nice piece for <./>ThePost</.> - why not remove this from PeerReview and take it from there

It's more of an opinion-piece than a guide entry. It could become a guide entry if it was done as a group-effort, I think. Comparing and contrassing the state of popular music over the decades?

my main problem with this article is that it hasn't decided what it has a problem with, so keeps shifting emphasis.
It complains about the lack of traditional musical instruments, but acapella music like barbershop quartet or the flying pickets proves that you don't need instruments at all.
Some of the good 80's electropop (kraftwerk springs to mind) proves that if you do use instruments they don't need to be the traditional ones.
there is plenty of good music being made today, but it is being kept out of public view by the music industry. it takes 70% of the income from top artists "to develope new artists", but it doesn't do that, it builds boy bands that will last a couple of years, and then hypes them to the top of the charts for a week or two.
I think that the author needs to figure out the main idea behind this article, and then focus on it.
well done though for actually daring to write something.

I am actually getting quite annoyed now! These entries are not supposed to be in Peer Review! My sister thought she would put them in whne I was on holiday, and now I have to go and take them all out. And does anyone know if theres a way to remove the automated message things from my personal space?
