Vacancy: Campsite Manager
Frankie Roberto Started conversation Oct 17, 2002
Love the taste of the wild? Know how to put your tent up without looking stupid? Then the h2g2 Campsite needs you.
Background
The h2g2 Campsite (A370487) has been running since it was originally set up for the Music Festival of 2000. Since then it has changed hands, and become an all-year-round place to stay. It has also featured in an h2g2 pub quiz. Each visitor to the campsite sets up their own pitch, which is assigned a thread. Two and a half years on, the Campsite needs another new manager to take over the running of the site.
Duties
* Subscribe to the forum and welcome new arrivals.
* Add new campers to the list.
* Maintain the blurb on the page.
* Help to market the campsite, advertising it at various places on h2g2.
* Look after the campsite noticeboard (F45817?thread=151919)
* Think up fun new ideas and ways to improve the site.
Experience Required
None really, apart from a bit of GuideML. Plus enough time to be trivial.
Please post applications to this thread.

Go on, then. I'll apply.
Only because I've been camping here for two months and no-one's spoken to me.

I can't find you on the list. I must be slacking...
Do you have any good ideas about the campsite?
I should say that a perk of the job will be that you get to take over the top-of-the-range Pitch 1.

I'm pitch 4242, all the better numbers having been taken
Rather than re-start the Music Festival, I think it's important to have one decent-sized 'event' every 4 months or so (like Titania's Harvest Festival - still ongoing). It's just a question of advertising. Actually, a bonfire night party would have been excellent: I don't know if there's enough time, though.

*follows the ad left on tent doorstep*
I'll apply.
I agree about there should be more seasonal activities. What could one more party possibly hurt?

No, please do it - I applied when I was p**sed last night.
Even if I do accept the job, I'll need someone to help me run a bonfire-night party.

BobTheFarmer Posted Oct 17, 2002
Surely there must be demand for that?
Not like a Philosophy degree or anything is it.
Vacancy: Campsite Manager
Mu Beta Posted Oct 17, 2002
There's no demand for _any_ graduates anywhere at the minute. Not even people like me, with proper accredited engineering degrees.

Whereas people like me walk out of school and into work along with graduates...
Not trying to make you feel bad!!!
Hmmm, im sure something'll turn up sooner or later. I think I've said that already. Anyway, b****x, its the end of the day and my mind is blank and I cant think of anything to say.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the great response! I wasn't even sure that I'd een get one applicant.
I would like to offer the position to Evangeline, because you've done some great work helping new campers. I hope you accept.
Master B and Bob, it would be great if you could help out too, the more people promoting the campsite, the better! I'd like to offer you the position of deputies - meaning that you would help out Evangeline and be active within the forum.

Hi Frankie Roberto,
I would be glad to help you. The Campsite is one of my favorite places to hang out for amusement. I don't want to see it wither and die.

Great. One of the first things I would like you to do, if you don't mind, is to make sure the Happy Campers list is up to date. Could you check to see if there are any people I haven't added? If there are, could you copy the guideml, add the names to the list, and e-mail the guideml to me please?
I will try to get editing rights assigned to you some time during the week.
