Nomination for Pedro on the "Parliamentary Democracy - A thing of the past? " Thread :
(and taking the P out of me but I can take it!)

Ictoan Post 37:
"This is probably one of those incoherent late night posts

But it seems to me that a lot of the "we've never had it so good, thamk god we don'll have a feudal system like back in the medieval ages" comparisons with modern political systems are somewhat unfair. They contrast the reality as perceived of the medieval times with the ideology of the modern times. It should not be forgotten in the comparison that the ideology of the monarchical and feudal systems included the responsibility of the lord or monarch to their subjects. There was a ideal that was part of the right of rule that the ruler looked after their subjects and made sure their needs and requirements were met.

This didn;t happen a lot of the time, but is that really so different from the councillors and ministers who don't look after the needs of their constituents? They're all still playing the same power games, after all. The only real thing that's changed is how they got there. A good monarch or lord, going by the ideology, would be better than a bad elected minister or councillor.

Pedro Post 39:
"'discus'

Are you throwing that around for some ideas then? "

Made me laugh!
