We don't have a quota per se ... we just don't like to see anybody wandering around without a buddy, that's all!

Hi, everyone..
suncage Posted Jul 24, 2002
Thanks for the link Rod.
What a coincidence meeting you here
I think my first topic for research will be how to navigate my way around
Do I need any special equipment?
Hi, everyone..

Hey, again, Suncage...
I'm going to assume, for the moment, that you want to join the MUG... Let me know if that's a wrong assumption...

Hi, everyone..

Hello, I don't know if your assumption is correct
my assumption is that I was already in, but if I'm not then could you alter one of our assumptions to the affirmative and say 'welcome suncage you're in'
cheers

You were already "in" H2G2, but the MUG is a wholly owned subsiduary of Peet's randomly created pages, so it needed my intervention to add you to the "member list".
Where's the Orchard?

I'm really enjoying the game of hide & seek the orchard site is playing with us. What can we play next?

OK, folks, I'm now working with Abi ( ) to keep the Orchard page out of the hands of the Moderators...( )
Assuming the possibility of a large influx of users, and bearing in mind that the Moderators have to check *every* link on the page every time it's edited, even just to add to the contributor list, Abi has come up with a cunning plan...
I'll keep an eye on this thread and note all the users who want to join. Once a week, I'll e-mail the list of U-numbers to Abi, who will add them in-house without triggering a Moderation sweep. So, don't panic if I don't add new arrivals immediately; I'll probably be rounding up the e-mails on the first Sunday night when there are enough to make the exercise worthwhile, and e-mailing them to Abi on the Monday morning.
Thanks, Abi!
Oh, and before I forget, if you see anyone trying to sign up on a different thread or starting a new thread with a cryptic title in order to join, please point them to this thread to minimise the chance of me missing them...

…from Apple Discussions, where you can get suspended for being whimsical. I guess you can get suspended here for not being whimsical.
I don't understand all that about moderators and sweeps. Are we (presuming I get in) a secret underground organisation dedicated to overthrowing the moderators and confounding their knavish tricks? I hope so.
I like being being in something where I have no idea what's going on. Quite restful.

No, MacGee, you are thinking of the Zaphodista Army of Cybernautic Liberation over at A520769...
I've got your number ( ) and I'll add you to the members roster soon, as per my posting above... Good to have you with us; tell all your friends...

Hey MacGee,
How are you? Miss all you guys. Sniff... It's no fun being locked up in a jail cell with that Titmuss guy. He keeps pulling my hair because he misses his goldfish.

Peet,
So is that the member's roster on the right side of the screen? Is there any way to be emailed if there is a response to a post?
Questions, questions...

Donna, sadly there are no e-mail alerts, but it's on the "features request" list... As you'll have noticed, there's a conversation list in your personal space; the forums with the most recent replies jump to the top of the list. You just have to check in regularly...
The "Contributors" list is serving as a members' roster, until a better system comes along. It means you'll always have a link to "The Orchard" at the bottom of your User Space in the "Entries I have contributed to" section. It's a kludge, but it seems to work.

Hi MacGee Did you notice that I started a non whimsical thread (don't know if we call them threads here) especially for you at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F83504?thread=197909 ;-) Cheers Rod
