Bob a Job Week
Fat Tum Menace Started conversation Sep 19, 1999
Bob a Job week got it's name from the practice of Scouts doing jobs for the payment of a Bob (an english nickname for a shilling - worth 5p in decimal currency).
Since 1971 when the UK adopted decimal currency, the name "Bob a Job week" has changed to Scout Job Week. Also the Scout Groups wouldn't increase their funds much if they still charged 5 pence per job.
Scout job week no longer exists through fears of children's safety. Funds are raised now through Group events (such as jumble sales, Christmas Fairs etc). Please support these events as the Scout Movement provides a good educational and moral environment for young people to meet and develop.
