Tau? more advanced? Wrong!!!!!

PS: Anyone who wants some of those rules can just leave me a message in my space and I'll give 'em too you! (I recommend Ma Chao, he's hard as nails, but not invincible by a long way)

no you quite obviously dont understand the concept at all. if you break rules by making things harder than usual you are debalancing the game and making it worse. elven princes arent meant to be monstrously hard. they arent Gods. did you not listen to a word i said?
Tau? more advanced? Wrong!!!!!
Wargamer (The Wanderer) Posted Mar 24, 2002
Yes I did. But what is harder to kill: A normal Elven Prince on dragon, or an Elven Prince with a (perfectly legal) Magic Sword, slightly higher than normal abilites, and a fair few extra attacks? I've seen N'kai die to a Human Captain! He isn't /that/ powerful, whereas a Dragon (100% Legal in the rules) would have crushed the Captain, his squad and a couple of other squads with barely a scratch! N'kai isn't overkill, he simply takes a little more effort to kill.

yes...but the point is that he isnt the rules, so he is unbalanced. and warhammer is about regiments, not characters anyway. how likely is it that a prince would be able to get six hits in when a solider would get one? they wouldnt be that different

True... but regiments play a big part for my characters too. In fact they aren't characters, they're ultra-champions! (especially N'kai: He's got three Wounds, 8 Attacks and a Ws of 8!). They were designed as Role Play characters originally, but as they evolved (and they tended to me Mercs for some strange reason ) they became Regiments of Renown. Anyway, they are pretty fair: One battle The Nine: A powerful Cavelry Force, destroyed about 350pts or more of Orcs, suffering just three casualties! The Next battle BAMM!! Down from Nine to two in a single round of close combat! The point is that they /are/ all powerful, but /only/ when used properly (with the possible exception of N'kai, who can comfortable fight off anyone who isn't equipped for Dragon...).

Okay, so Maybe N'kai /is/ unbalanced, but how about this: His original Stuff was:
+1 Ws, +3 Attacks, Blade Shield (Shield and Hand Weapon), 4+ Ward.
But he could be armed with:
Biting Blade, Hydra Sword and 4+ Ward (there is an Armour Type that gives you a 4+ Ward according to the rules...) and he would be exactly the same! If there was a Sword for the Dark Elves that automatically Wounded, then he'd be perfectly legal now!

Purple Moose - He comes, he goes. But mainly the latter... Posted Apr 20, 2002
I'm afraid to tell you all that the most advanced race in the 40k galaxy are the Tyranids.
They don't even need Technology with metal, they just evolve to create even bigger, nastier, hurtier weaponry and monsters.

Wargamer (The Wanderer) Posted Apr 22, 2002
No... They have a Tech level of 0. Therefore, they are the most primitive.
But that doesn't mean they ain't deadly!

I don't think they're in 40K anymore... But they used to have a really cool weapon: the Shokk Attack Gun!

yeah, I'm not actually a greenskin myself (though i am hoping to start a Chapter Approved Feral Orks army shortly.)
I just don't generally like the Imperium. I think it's an effect of doing Chaos for so long...
