The child speaks: (well, close enough, i can remember being a child)
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They wouldn't do finger falking on purpose, because it wouldn't occur to them that they were "finger" falking. Just falking at all is funny enough. Sometimes it's completely unrelated though.

From the looks of your nickname, you already have.

Hello Strider (can't manage the new nickname!) and TR!
My six year old appears to flick with all his fingers. I've been experimenting with fulking and knuckling down and there's no doubt about it, knuckling down is much more accurate.

Oh yes, as an aside, my son has quite individual names for marbles:
basket balls - tiny cats eyes
bonkers - larger marbles ( about three quarters of an inch)
king kongs - very large marbles
volcanoes - very pretty opaque swirls

I've called the big ones bonkers before. The other names are new on me. (You can keep calling me Strider, it's unpronouncable the other way anyways)

Not if I smear my glasses enough!
It reads Stri?cr the Eccentric , though with the accent marks you are using, it would come out...umm..as Streedure thay IIckIIntriqqquee, part III, Pope of the Parking Lot and Plenipotentiary of the last spoonful of peanut butter in the jar...at the back of the fridge.

You forgot the living in the campsite part.
*suddenly realises that this has nothing to do with marbles.*
I'd really hate to get this thread moved to the sin bin... So with that in mind, Zarq: I think this one is ready for the Edited Guide. Great work!

Excellent entry! I agree that it should stay within the realm of gaming marbles.
I hope they let you add in the images of the different techniques: the descriptions work, but it's really something that can be explained more easily with a photo.
Re: cat's eyes: from what I've been told, it's just a color pattern- one stripe of a color in an otherwise clear marble. I don't think it has to do with the size of the marble or its function in a game.
It's got my vote for the Edited Guide

Hi, Nireena!
Cats eyes are clear marbles with a vaned strip inside. The number of vanes varies from one to around five.
There are some wonderful names for marbles, swirls, aggies (agates), clearies, corkskrews, peewees, birds eggs, foil clays, galaxies, meteors, black panthers, arctic bears, atomic fireballs, oxbloods, immies, etc, etc. I thought that collecting marbles was out of the scope of this entry, though.
