Just finished downloading opera 6. Will let you know my views in a bit. I've always been an IE user so this may be a shock to my system!

Seems fine up to now.
Like the way the intenet windows have their own bar. I need to get rid of that advert though. How do I do that?
Also, whats the best way to refresh??

To get rid of the ad bar you have to pay for it!
I use the refresh button. I never got the hang of the auto refresh thing.

Ta Mina.
Someone said earlier in the thread that you can find some dodgy ad killer somewhere?
I'll take your advice on the refresh button. Like the way it doubles as the stop. Makes sense.

threesecond - just bung 'webwasher' in your google search bar in Opera - that's what I did, and it's downloading now. I haven't time to try it tonight, though - I'm off out.

I tried that earlier and got nowt. Odd. I'll try it again tomorrow at work as thats the machine that opera is on. I'm stuck on IE5.5 here, and with this connection, downloading 10megs would take about years!!

Well, I've been using the programme ever since it entered the market and the stats accumulate over the months (18 or so)...

Ok Tube, can I pick your brain some more?
Thanks.
I've downloaded and installed web washer and set it up so that opera use's it as a proxy (I think). I've changed the settings to include pop-up ads and wot not, but I've still got the ad top right. Also, I still get pop-up. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Check out Opera - Peferences - Network - Proxy servers
The HTTP box should be ticked and the address should be 127.0.0.1 at port 8080. Or just go to yahoo or some other ad driven site and have a look (you might have to re-load if the data's in your cache).

I guess the stuff's still in your RAM or HDD cache. either re-load the pages, purge the cache or wait until the cache re-loads itself. This especially goes for the ad at the top right. Webwasher wil not make the space taken up by the ad disappear (since the space is coded into the Opera design) but it does get rid of the fashing bits and stuff so that the plain Opera ad should be showing or an empty space. Anything that flutters about at the moment is in your cache and will disappear over time.
I'm not sure but I think that this would apply to the pop-up bits as well.

Nice one. Worked a treat. No more pop ups when I go to comedy club's site. Just got the click to buy the fastest browser on earth thingummie in opera now.
