yeah, davidson was the youngest to take the part and so probably could have turned heads. But it was the 80s and it was the Doc and that sotrt of thing didn't happen.

Has to be said though, I liked this Doc's reluctance to take a companion, as he was still upset from Martha... I like his morality and care, not wanting to repeat mistakes that harm others, but desperate for companionship. Preferably uncomplicated!

NPY Posted Apr 9, 2008
Yeah, well he did miss Rose and got Martha to help, and then Donna forced herself along. can't blame him for being a bit reluctant.

I think he's worried about letting people down and hurting them too, human women are so prone to getting hung up on high achievers with gadgets!
I'd like to see a straight male companion, actually...

Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune Posted Apr 9, 2008
Meh.
Proper lone, useful, willing, interesting companions.
Dr Who.
NPY Posted Apr 9, 2008
Well Adam was a right twit. So what about older past companions like Jamie or Adric?

Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune Posted Apr 9, 2008
Aah, I'm an Ecclestone girl... Never have gotten into the older stuff to be honest with you...
Dr Who.
NPY Posted Apr 9, 2008
Ecclestone!?! He was good, but Tenaant's better. Cuter too.
Got a few oldies on video in charity shops and ebay. Some good ones even if the effects are a bit dodgey by todays standards.

Out of interest - anyone remember all the kerfuffle when Paul McGann snogged his companion in the TV movie?
When was the last companion the Doctor *didn't* snog?

I think Grace and Paul McGann were the first, right?
Well, there's Mickey and Adam (annoying as he is). Has Donna kissed him yet?
Don't think the earlier companions really would have. Wasn't done, except maybe a kiss on the cheek.

* SPOILERS *
I thought this week's one was an improvement, but still a bit too 'played for laughs'. Volcano looked though and there were some
lines.
But I'm really upset by the way they feel free to totally rewrite history. Not the stuff about aliens causing the erruption of Vesuvius, that's quite plausible - but Caecilius and Metella surviving? Outrageous!

To be honest I found it quite disapointing, is THAT woman a permanent fixture? If she is supposed to be a doctors assistant she doesn't seem to do much assisting.
I have to be honest though and say I prefer the setting to not be earlier than World War 2 and the more electonic, etc gadgets the better or it seems a bit boring.
I mean really, those rock monsters, play school stuff!

I think the second episode was like a lot of series 2: okay episode, but with some fantastic lines and even scenes. I really loved the scene with the two soothsayers both proving they actually had genuine gifts of sight. Each new revelation just built up the awesomeness level of the scene.
Also cool to hear of the Shadow Proclamation again. I do hope it _is_ the recurring theme for this season.

I thought it was marvellous. Funny, engaging, looked absolutely fantastic, Tate was great, superb supporting cast too.

I was almost in tears at the end. No episode of Who ever did that to me before. And I think Catherine Tate's doing a great job.

I was surprised to find myself with goosebumps at the end. Impressive stuff.

I think I must have been watching a differant programme or not be a Who fanatic. Each programme from the start of new series has been a little less interesting than first. Tate is an over rated commedien and I found she added nothing to this week's Who. Even the Doctors novelty is wearing a bit thin as always very similar acting, sometimes you can almost guess what he is going to say.
