It would have been difficult to have Bernard as the companion (which is the other rumour) without CT in it - the question is whether she gets more than a walk-on make-DT-emotional moment.
Here's a thought for you: we all seemed to notice That Ring, and someone pointed out that the Master's post-death scene also involved a female hand with a ring. Now we're all speculating that El Maestro will return... along with CT and her ring... and we all know how RTD loves to bring back ideas from previous seasons and make major plot points out of them...

I heard rumours that Catherine Tate was filming in a Wedding Dress

How old is this rumour?
I didn't think Ryan would join as a regular. She seems much more like the kind of character who would make the odd guest appearance.

I thought I should point out that there is a spoiler thread F79498?thread=6286209
The special was ok but it felt like a normal episode that had been padded out to make it last an hour. But the xmas ones have always felt like that for me. I don't think RTD has got the hang of writing an hour-long Who; he seems to write a normal-length episode but string it out with cheese (RTD in cheese string scandal!)
Most of the bus CGI was awful and some of the music (particularly when the bus landed) was too cinematic and felt out of place. The scene where the Doctor asked them what they'd planned for later was painful to watch as was Lee Evans' character's "I love you" bit. Also, the bus went through the wormhole *in* the tunnel but the wormhole conveniently relocated itself at the end of the tunnel and does anyone really believe that just three of the aliens would have managed to get through?
Having said all that (and a lot less, believe me) Planet of the Dead was good fun. DT was good, Michelle Ryan was good and, as several people have noted, Lee Evans wasn't anywhere near as irritating as I'd expected him to be. It was far better than the Cybertrash we got at xmas

"does anyone really believe that just three of the aliens would have managed to get through?"
I put that down to the three aliens being the dormant ones they found in the fly spaceship rather than the main flock.

It did strike me that if a girl wants to get ahead in the army, UNIT is the regiment to do it in. They seem to have quite a few senior female officers.

I think the episode felt like an episode that had been scrapped from the main series, I quite enjoyed it...
It was just a bit of fun. Also I found Lee Evans to be fairly amusing...

Actually, that's a very good point. It _did_ seem like it had nothing in particular to raise it above the level of the usual mid-season episodes. It think this is partly because they've ramped up the 'spectacle' of average episodes though, so more 'spectacle' doesn't really cut it.

SPOILERS ALERT
Apparently not only Katherine Tate has been spotted filming in Cardiff, but also John Simm, though in what capacity and for how long I don't know. Interesting no? Obviously we all know he died and was burnt, but maybe the ring contains an impression of him or something, and he appears in a dream or as an illusion.

Ack, sorry, I'm not subscribed to any other Dr Who threads so I thought here'd be ok with a big warning label.

Inky dentally, on the subject of the ring - didn't the Doctor give Donna a bio-damper in a ring at the end of Runaway Bride?

Don't forget the utility of flashbacks...
Dr Who.
Jozcoz Posted May 1, 2009
Are you saying the biodamper could hide Donna's timelordyness?
I'd imagine the Doctor would have noticed already... unless they're gonna do the whole "watch" thing again...

Giford Posted May 1, 2009
Or just saying that the John Simms Master could appear in a flashback, thus explaining why Simms is playing the role after the body has been incinerated?
Adric appeared in a flashback the episode after he died so that Matthew Waterhouse would appear on the cast lists and not raise suspicion among fans.

as they so often say to get out of a tight spot " it's sci-fi... anything is possible"

It would be interesting if Quatermass shows up, since they mentioned him.

Bernard Quatermass. He´s from another British sci-fi show that was briefly revived a few years ago.
