van-smeiter... il penseroso< I noticed that the end of the 11th Doctor confidential said that the 11th Doctor would be coming spring 2010 (normal starting time for a new season) which makes me wonder if the regeneration will be either non-existent (cf Eccleston) or in the style of Baker/McCoy or McCoy/McGann?>
The Baker/McCoy regen was due to Baker refusing as Micheal Grade killed off Dr Who when he was the Dr etc.
The McCoy/McGann regen was an excellent regen...and no special effects with the face gurning.
The regeneration is the big part of Dr Who so I doubt whether they would do it off screen. I have a feeling Tennant will want a regeneration scene he's that sort of Dr Who geek.

Tennant's already had one at the end of S4. More would be just greedy.
My understanding was also that the specials would be spread through the year. I was slightly confused when someone implied that they'd be bunched together.

"The McCoy/McGann regen was an excellent regen...and no special effects with the face gurning."
Must have been some kind of special effects ... they didn't just lop McCoy's head off and put McGann's on his body ...

They did fade McGanns face onto McCoys but McCoy made some facial gurning to make it appear that he was physical transforming before the actual regeneration. That bit does seem like it could only be done with special effects but McCoy has a rather wubbery face so he was able to make it look OK.
It's on Youtube in a regen compilation clip

"Michelle Ryan as a companion, anyone?"
Looks like that is one they got sort of right

she is to play Lady Christina in Planet of the Dead
quote
"As always the script is being kept strictly under wraps. However, we can reveal that Lady Christina is a woman with a mysterious past who's going to have a huge impact on the Doctor."
Unfortunately Lee Evans is going to be in it to, oh well.

Lee Evans is ok, as long as he's not trying to be funny

I'm not a fan of his either, but what I have seen of him playing it straight has been ok

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jan 23, 2009
Never sure whether 5th Element counts as playing it straight or not for him!

good film in a 'brain off' type action flick way. Well, has Bruce Willis in it so what else would you expect?!
Dr Who.
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jan 23, 2009
mmm, nominated and did actually win some others (like BAFTAs and I think a German or French one or two).
Also pretty much responsible for the sci/fi geek infatuation with Milla Jovovovovovovich.

Also the reason for the Luc Besson fascination with Milla Jovovich. Reportedly they hooked up during filming. They've since split up, but his most recent film Angel-A stars an actress who bears a striking resemblence to her, only 15-odd years younger...

I liked it, except for Bruce Willis being in it.
But Luc Besson does OK flicks- I loved Le Dernier Combat, and The Professional, La Femme Nikita and Wasabi were all perfectly watchable.
That said I know nothing about the woman in Ictoan's link, so I'll have to investigate. And I've only seen Lee Evans in two movies, neither of which were very good, so perhaps I'm unfairly biased against him.

the only thing you may know of her your side of the pond was as the actress who front the remake of the Bionic Woman recently (and got roundly slated (in joke) for it. Wasn't that bad but I don't think her being an unknown english actress went down too well in the states).
