Short and to the point because I can't think of anything else to say. Anyone?

Hi, Hoovooloo!
An interesting article. h2g2 certainly broadens your horizons!
I had never heard of this guy before and now I'm wondering if there is anywhere apart from the official site where you can see his works. Are there?
Just a small query - as the site is selling posters, etc., does it come under the classification of a commercial site? I hope not, as I'm sure other people would find this interesting as well.

You might want to mention the Alien3 issue... IE they dropped him in the credits.
BTW I saw this great photo of Dali and Giger in a garden... too funny...

Giger can be found lots of places....but since his work is copyright protected most of these places are illeagal
Just try your handy Search Engine and see what pops up
In addition to posters, there are also calendars, books, computer games, and if you want to spend a rather large chunk of moolah there is even custom made furnture (which looks like it came straight from hell) I adore this artist and think he needs far more attention... cheers Hoovooloo

There is a reason that he is dropped from the credits in alien 3, he had nothing to do with it.
for the original alien film, he did all of the alien related design, and nothing else. he cooperated with the work on alien 2, but fundamentally disagreed with the direction it was going in. as alien 2 went further in this direction, the people involved decided that they didn't need the hassle that they had with alien 2, so they didn't bother to consult him. hence no credit.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Oct 30, 2001
I think this entry misses one very important. Giger's work is disgusting. It is deliberately disgusting. He goes to great lengths to make sure that the viewer will be disturbed by what they see. It is for this reason he was chosen to design the alien. I think this point is important enough to deserve a mention.
Other things about Giger: he likes to dress up in a black cape like Dracula (probably not worth mentionin). He designed a cover for an Emerson Lake and Palmer LP (can't remember which one) and I think he designed the Alien in the film "Species".

Alien related design and nothing else... er... all the landscapes... all the sets except the Nostromos...er hardly nothing else....

oh forgot the point of my post... which was people feel that since the alien design is largly still what it was (IE Gigier's work) that he should get a "based on" design credit.

Hi,
As a giger fan I was glad to see this entry,
Giger did some CD covers (one for ELP[Emerson Lake and Palmer] - I think the CD is "Brain Damage Surgery", and the other for a female singer whose name I don't recall at the moment)
I think also mentioning Lee(?) and her effect on him will be nice.

Hiya!
I like...
The other CD cover was for one of Debbie Harry's solo outings. I can't remember the name of the CD though...

Hi HVL,
HR Giger is one of the two people that I wouldn't want to come across in the dark, just knowing his work (the other one would be Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector, btw).
And, no, I couldn't think of anything else that has to be said. Great entry, should go right into the Guide.

OK...
Gnomon - "Species" - I already mentioned it in the entry. ELP album was "Brain Salad Surgery", so that's going in...
Dancer- It was Debbie Harry, who I've also mentioned. Mentioning Li Tobler is a good idea, though...
WD - It was "KooKoo", and it's in the entry already. Is anyone actually reading the entry?
Thanks for the comments though...
H.

My brain's not really all here - I have a very important exam in 2 weeks time, so concentration is far from great H - still like the entry

Well, Dancer, you'll find a reference to Li Tobler in there now.
Any more?

The only thing I can think of to add would be to include:
Dune - The Film
when you mention the film of Dune.
