If the author is gone (if this jumps on over to the Flea Market), someone should *definitely* begin a University Project for Monty Python... There really *is* too much to cover in a single entry, and anything not mentioned because of space constraints will make lots of fans upset, or at least wonder why it isn't included... My vote is for a UP, with credit to the original author Monty Python, as soon as (well, if) this entry gets moved to the Flea Market.

I was already considering doing a stand-alone Entry on the greatly underrated Eric Idle, but I'd be happy to do it for a Python University Project instead.

I think it's worth a mention that all of the members of MP were (are) highly educated, that Graham Chapman was a physician, that Terry Jones has done some exceptional literary and historical analyses of Chaucer, that Terry Gilliam went on to direct the dark cult films "Brazil" and "Twelve Monkeys", and that sort of thing. Each of those guys is interesting enough to fill a book!

Spike Anderson is sorry he can't catch up on a whole month's backlog

Well, Monty Python will have officially left the building in 10 days (Jan. 17, 2002).

If this goes to the flea market, perhaps we can pick it up as a University project. (is that possible from the market?)

Of course, Monty, if you come back and work on it yourself, that's great too. It's about time MP was in the Guide, though.

Well... if this does end up in the Flea Market, I'd be happy to co-ordinate the University project (as I was the mug who originally suggested it, I feel I ought to follow it up smiley - smiley)

Having said that, there will be a *lot* to write, so I'll be looking for volunteers to help me out! smiley - smiley

Welcome aboard smiley - smiley Is there any aspect(s) of Python in particular you'd like to write about..? I'm planning to put my suggestions for what should be covered on the project home page (when I get round to setting it up..!), so if there's nothing specific you can just choose something from there, or suggest anything I might have missed.

If the project includes profiles of the individual Pythons, I'd still like to do a piece on Eric Idle! smiley - smiley

Unless there is space for a whole entry on the songs of monthy python I will be quite happy to see what you suggest and just choose something...

smiley - cheers vp. I was going to include an entry on the records, which would link to a more specific entry on songs quite nicely...

I've also started a thread in the collaborative writing workshop to get some ideas for people's favourite bits of Python (and why!). If anyone has a moment, please pop over there (F57152?thread=164894) and let me know what you think!
