Another downtime, we're afraid, this time to install more key components following this week's server failure. Many apologies for the inconvenience, but it's crucial that this maintanence is performed as soon as possible.

Don't the hamsters get the bank holiday weekend off then? I hope the union makes sure they get extra pay for working the bank holidays

Reefgirl, I just happen to be posting after you ~ this is not intended for you,
'specially cus you'll still (hopefully) be sleeping while PTB keep things together.
I have been on this site since 2000 and never have I had a complaint against
the H2G2/BBC staff. Sometimes the politics but never the way this site is run.
I'm proud to be growing old(er), jussss a wee bit, with my Hiker Family
When I was in hospital dying from arsenic poisoning the entire Summer of 2004 - were it not for my Hootoo Family I would have gone peg.
I'm just giving everyone the props they deserve.
Thank you for five years with totally cool people.
Take your time putting things right. It's what DNA would have done.
For those of you who will be experiencing withdrawl from H2G2 I'd like to say, I am a Clinical Mental Health Therapist.

meet me in the alley of hope - free advice for everyone - pass it on

Pandora,
I completely agree. This is one of (if not THE) best sites on the web. Very few problems and those that arise are dealt with promptly.
My thanks to Eds. and Engineers, especially those working Sunday. I shall be too busy to look at HooToo till after 10.30am so hopefully it will be back by then.
Have one(or two) on me, folks.
Pandora, by the way hope you are well recovered now. Followed your time in hospital, but didn't realise the cause. Take care.

Now that's a new low. Not only are the beeb making the network boffin get up early, they're making him get up early on a Sunday! Even worse, it's a bank holiday weekend Sunday! Mark Thompson, you've just made an enemy.
Nah only kiddin' you're alright. Just glad it isn't me
*checks mail*
What's this, a promotion to network boffin at the beeb?
*shakes fist*

You sure it's not my gerbil working for the Beeb? Hootoo was running fine, but recently my gerbil has got old and tired and just sleeps a lot, and now hootoo has problems. I see a connection...
