So is fiddling with our names really possibly dangerous?

What bug do we want fixed now? I vote for the MP list.

Aargh. I tracked down my long name, but I daren't use the "Settings" page because it insists that I change my skin away from Plain to Alabaster, Brunel or Goo, and I don't trust the system to let me change back afterwards. (sorrysmiley - blush)

How do you mean? I can get to the "Settings" page by temporarily switching to Brunel, but the "Skin" drop-down doesn't include a "Plain" option, so when I submit the new name I'd have to pick a non-Plain skin at the same time.

Could you not then just edit the URL back from 'brunel' to 'plain'?

It would screw up my defaults, including my "Stylesheet". (A feature only available in "Plain" smiley - geek)

I think the Editors tools can be used to alter screen names - usually to set it back to the default.

Of course this would be a gross abuse of slanty powers... smiley - whistle

If you happen to be in there again, and looking for a bit of gross misconduct, I wouldn't mind my name being changed to:
