I just tried putting War and Peace in my tag, but it truncated it.

Icy, you will have to ammend that daily, ... You now have me interested and I want to see the rest of the tale.

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website Posted Oct 20, 2011
There's something like 250 characters allowed (in the name, not War and Peace). But they display in a shortened version.

That was 12345678910 about 20 times I think. It doesn't truncate.

Kea, try a 'space' every 10 or 20, see if perhaps it wraps around then?

I'm curious as to why Icy's truncated though.

It was just a joke, kea, I'm not so foolish as to seriously test the limitations of h2g2 while it's in its current state.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Oct 20, 2011
So... we can use just about every character but the apostrophe? Bit inconvenient for grocer's, that.

I love this bit of bugblatting. Just turning off a "feature" we never wanted in the first place. The whole suffix thing was just a duct tape and baling wire fix for a restriction meant for other parts of BBCi, part of the barelyscrewed reconstruction. It was just a poorly done work around to calm some of the outrage the character limit restrictions caused around here.

The difference is Icy's seen the current state of the back end, where all the blue tack and duct tape are fully visible.
They daren't breath those poor Guide Editors..
