Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE) Posted Mar 16, 2011
That's why I've got Amy P added to the end of my tag, though I'm pretty sure most folks would be able to figure out it's me from the mufflewhump bit.

Still Incognitas, Still Chairthingy, Still lurking, Still invisible, unnoticeable, missable, unseen, just haunting h2g2 Posted Mar 16, 2011
Ah, but you don't really. Ironically the part that says "Still Incognitas" is invisible to folks like me using brunel.
It's visible in brunel as well.I checked.

Baron Grim Posted Mar 16, 2011
Yes, it's visible TO YOU. But not to anyone else.

Baron Grim Posted Mar 16, 2011
Look at Amy's name an tag from brunel and you'll see what I mean.
If you reply to her you'll see her full name and tag on the reply page but not from the convo itself.

Who said that?
But seriously... Yes you are, anhaga--if you've not changed your name over in Barlesque, you're fully visible all over.
I'm not sure that came out *quite* right, but I think you know what I mean.

'if you've not changed your name over in Barlesque'
What's 'Barlesque'?
(still can't see what is being improved by the change.)

"This method also refers to a procedure used in biology classes to immobilize a specimen, by inserting a needle up through the base of the skull (from the back) and then wiggling the needle around, destroying the brain. It allows for dissecting the frog, as well as observing its living physiology, such as the beating heart and expansion and contraction of the lungs, without causing unnecessary pain to the animal. The specimen REMAINS LIVING because respiration continues through the skin without cerebral control."

please
please please please forgive me for spewing my darkness upon you all
those last two postings were just reflections of my feelings
about things in my own life that are getting me down
perhaps think of it as some small dark humor and leave it at that?
i am sure things will work out okay here
and i know anyone involved in making it better
is doing their best the best that they can
again, i am sorry
sometimes i can be so thoughtless

Don't worry about it, fluffy. If that's the worst you can do, we're all OK

In goo I can see people's tags only on their PS's and when replying but not at the top of their posts. Most oddly, though, on my PS, I can still see my own h2g2 tag (which, in deference to those who can only read the tags, is simply Trillian's Child) after the names of all my followers. It looks really weird. I looked for this in barlesque and it wasn't there, but I can't look at barlesque for long because it scares me.
In threads in barlesque, there is no immediately visible indication of where you are in the thread, how much of the thread you have yet to read. The posts are numbered, which is a little bit of a relief, but no way of hopping back and forth between posts on a page, which I can do in Goo. Each post takes up far too much space and, being spread right across the screen makes it hard to read.
If the new owner only wants barlesque, I can't see myself staying on h2g2. People have been saying h2g2 is out of date. If being out of date means it's easier to navigate, then give me out-of-date any day.

Indications are that when/if the switch comes, we will not have the functionality that we have today.
Further than that it seems doubful if we will have the functionality of the system that the BBC purchased those 10 years ago.
Take your pick : This :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/U154942

And after that we'll be under new management and, with any luck, we can then remake the place how we want it. I'm hoping that we can either revert back to our old infrastructure, dump balrogesque and go forward from there making sensible updates to design, function and usability; or burialesque is completed to a functional state and we're able to then make changes and fixes that restores much of the functionality we had before and adds new functionality and user control to that.

My sympathies exactly Count Zero.
In any event let's hope that we can always access things like U230056 and U69725 in whatever skin we finish up with and lord forbid even if we finish up without a skin at all.
Let's wish Ben and those badgering away on our behalf every success.
