and now I cannot even try to sigh-in...

Clicking Sign in takes me to a page that says

"This page has moved. Are you trying to sign in or become a member?"

and clicking "sign in" just reloads the same page (smiley - headhurts x 3)

Can I also point that the new system is somewhat discriminatory not allowing letters from other European alphabets (e.g. the Icelandic eth character (Ð)) smiley - sadface

You solved it by going to http://www.bbc.co.uk/users/signin/ but the h2g2 sign in page is still broken and I'm still locked out of my account smiley - sadface

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

HD, have you tried going to the bbciD page and logging in there with your ten year old login name and password? It seems that the h2 login and bbcid login are separate.

Failing that, I don't understand why you are trying to answer your secret question on the h2 login if you know what the password is smiley - huh

So, I've updated a couple of my accounts and it seems easier to do this by logging in at bbcid rather than registering. Although I did register one account and it let me, and then when I tried to register this account (kea) it said the user name was already taken so I just logged in with that user name and updated that way.

Oh, and if the Eds didn't reply to a single email HD, perhaps you could email them again smiley - smiley

"HD, have you tried going to the bbciD page and logging in there with your ten year old login name and password?"

yup, tried that and it stll did a wobbly on me smiley - sadface

Given that the Ed's should have my email address from when I was a scout/guru/tester they should of had no problem verifying who I am but I did not get even so much as a "Sorry can't help" from the support email address (after 10 years membership) ... so I went off and sulked for a while after that ... and then when I finally finish sulking and comeback it's less than a week before they decide it would be fun to go down memory lane and repeat all the excitement we had with single sign on smiley - grr

As for emailing them again - what's the point? If they did not respond nine months ago why are they suddenly going to respond now? smiley - sadface

Foxwing

My daughter (who is 15) has told me her password. When I try to log on as her to h2g2, I get a message telling me to go away until I'm 16. That's what I expected, but it proves I'm using the correct password.

When I attempt to upgrade her to the new system, I get a message saying "There has been a problem, please check your username and password". Very unhelpul.

So it looks as if Insecteen will not be able to log in before the SSO is turned off and will lose her account. She's not particularly attached to it, but it does have one picture in the Edited Guide attributed to it. smiley - sadface

What's the point of e-mailing the Eds? Well first, they are a different set of Eds; the present pair may not be aware of the previous e-mail. Secondly, there are two of them now. They should be able to sort it between them. Thirdly, the first e-mail might have been overlooked.

Gnomon - time to move on

Oops, I posted those last postings using my other daughter's account (Foxwing). I had just upgraded her account to BBCiD. She's over 16 and had no problems. Sorry about the confusion.
