Didn't an Eastern European country once use their entry in the Eurovision Song Contest to signal the start of a coup? Or is that an urban legend?

I believe that Jim the E Block was wierd...
By the way I aplogise if I get you mixed up with "stuff" outside your domain.
Too many Jims...I tend to address the top headed italic when complaining. Sometimes you get caught in the "crossfire". Not intended I'm sorry.

The country in question was Portugal. It was a left-wing military coup in 1974 to unseat the then fascist government. I don't know if the signal really was the playing of their Eurovision song on the radio, but everywhere out there says it was and snopes does say it wasn't

Even if not true, there are some entries which probably _should_ have started a coup or taste revolution or something! Far too many people sing off-key these days (not just in Eurovision) and are not reviled or sacked for it in the way they should be. NB A Thunderbirds plot used microtones in a performance to convey a secret message. I hope that isn't what you are (mis)remembering, Jim.

A labour goverment taking "us" to war
Hmm maybe I should have posted this under a nom de plume.
(Literal translation is 'pen name'. The French term for it is: 'nom de guerre' literally, 'war name')

It was a lighthouse on the north end of Vancouver Island, dammit! The other end of the country!
And I'm not even counting the *fire baloons* that they tried to float over the forests in the rainiest season of the year.
Wait a minute, how did we get on this subject....

I never knew the HPLF band reformed, they disbanded in the mid sixties, just after there drummer spontainusly combusted on stage!
Where can i get the digitly remastered cd's of the HPLF album, I got the 12" version of their concept album, "Take the cash and run like F**K", but it a bit scrached, so the cd would be nice!

Take Zoom for instance...nice middle class Canadian guy from Ontario...how would he cope with foreign language posts. He would complain to the RCMP..rightly so. He would feel excluded and threatened etc...
