I've just had a thought.

If we've got the downstairs bar, and as (being the City) there's probably some wi-fi action going down, how's about we take along a laptop & webcam, set 'em up in a corner and broadcast to hootooers that can't make it?

I don't know if:

1) It's technically possible,
2) anybody would want to watch,
3) I'd trust myself not to lose my laptop or anybody else not to lose theirs.
4) This has already been suggested and mercilessly shredded as a ridiculous idea.

Regardless of that, whad'ya think?

I think it's a good idea, and I seem to rmember somebody suggested it somewhere, but can't recall the pros and cons if there were any.

Aaargghhh. One of these days I'll have an original idea!

I can confirm the pub does have wifi, I got my PDA going with a bit of fiddling first at the last meet. It's BT Openzone/TheCloud though so you have to get a pay as you go voucher code from the quiz machine upstairs. in order to use it.

Or at least can confirm it did at the last meet. They can't have changed that much in six months can they?

Spot the chap who bought a webcam on an impulse and hasn't really used it:

If they still have the wifi thang, how would the pictures be broadcast? Some sort of MS/Yahoo etc messenger conference call? I don't think the regular 'update once a minute' webcam thing would be much cop.

(Of course watching a bunch of out-of-focus HoTooers getting drunk in the distance in a oub with random people lurching at, and shouting 'badger' into, the camera might not be much cop anyway!)
