I think I'll have another look at this tomorrow, when I'm less tired. However a quick comment. Edited guide entries are supposed to be in the third person and parts of this aren't.
I think the writing might be a bit 'tighter'. It's also a bit 'laddish'. Surely it's not a male preserve?

Haha! Bin dere! Dune dat!
I do think that as much as I admire it, that it does lack that solemn grace that seems to be demanded of the standard guyed entree...
But I hope a scout comes along and proves me wrong!

ectually...In my own experience, few females volunteer with lighting...it is nort as glamouress as helping with the costumely changes...and having been one of those octopi fellows...there was a certain sweaty dustiness and lack of dignity in the lighting perch.
Of course their reluctance may have come from having to share it with moi...

There are some occurences of first person writing ('I') left but that's a great one!

Thanks for a wonderful few minutes of entertainment
This is a great read and I hope it gets into the Guide, first-person notwithstanding.
One typo... You mention "Art's Council". I think it should be "Arts Council"
Apart from that, it's great stuff!

Thanks for the comments folks, most fair in the circumstances.
I must say it's the first time anyone's called me "laddish". I feel quite proud. In over 10 years of doing shows, I only worked with one gal and she went on to do it for a living.
Forgot about the 1st person rule, will not do so in future.
Looks like it may be included so ta very mucho and glad I raised a chuckle or two.

much of our lighting is done by females because, i mean what is more glamorous than burning your hands in the wee hours of the morning in the cat walks of the theater?

O dear lord is that not the most true statement I've ever seen! What a way to put it.

One must wonder why actors are not forced to take care of their own set.
Excellent article, I really enjoyed it.
