Z, dear, you're shouting. Just chew some gum. It's your eardrums.
*shows Z the note and hands him a piece of Bazooka*

It has been a long week. At least my homework load this weekend is rather minimal. Too bad everyone's going home for easter...

Alas, I have no grenades. (I used them all)

what did I tell you about indiscriminate grenade launching? then you don't have 'em when you need 'em!

*starts gathering up the desk shards*
*realizes that she'll never get it reasembled*
*takes out a mufflewhump and concentrates*
*mufflewhump turns into a metal, flameproof, soundproof () desk*
*opens drawer, gets in*

wow, a 5 year old? still can't be as bad as my roomie.
my parents are considering investing in real estate by buying an apartment building. naturally, i'd have free room and board in return for keeping an eye on things, and probably occasionally sister-sitting so my parents can go out on the town.
not a bad deal, if they can find a place.

sea, tell them to buy one down towards Irvine (although near enough to USC for you!). I would make an excellent tenant, and my husband is quite handy with mechanical type things. Really. I'm not kidding. Absolutely.
When I saw the rents in Irvine, I just about choked. $1250 for a two bedroom apartment?! A month?! I pay a third of that for a HOUSE! With a yard! And a garage! I don't even know....who the hell can afford that?!

......people in LA?
right now i'm paying something like $600/month for a single bedroom with a roommate. *shrug* rents are high here. you might consider living in the next city over from irvine, or such... sometimes it helps.

Yah, well, I don't even know what cities are next to Irvine...I look at the map and get all confused! Newport, Laguna something....you help me figure it out, and I will buy you dinner somewhere nice when I get down there...or kick your roomie's butt for you, whichever you prefer!

To me Orange county is the bit between LA and San Diego with all the traffic. Rent and house prices around here are so stupidly high. In SD you really have to be a millionaire to own a nice house. Now I'm not talking about a mansion, just a normal, decent house

Oh, yeah. I thought, well, with rent so high, I'll just look into buying a house. Yeah, right. A 800 sf, 2 bedroom shack (the ubiquitous "fixer-upper") was 329 thousand bucks. How insane is that?!?!??!??!?!??!

My In-Laws moved to SD and had to live in one of the "less nice" neighbourhoods (as it was back then) because it was all they could afford. Now the houses are going for $400,000. It's insane.

And why is that, exactly? I never understood that whole thing. So what if it has beaches and sun? It also has huge earthquakes.

yup, it's quite the expensive place to live....
hmm... newport and laguna probably aren't going to be much better rent-wise. both are very nice areas.... let me have a look-see.
