Well, I don't think I could bring my computer with my copy of the HHGTTG text-based adventure game on it. My roommate'd get awful upset if I went awol with our computer *G*

Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ... Posted Mar 21, 2002
As we are (mostly) Aussies here - can I share with you the limerick I made up this morning?? AT 8AM I MIGHT ADD!!
John Howard is visiting the Queen
And it really can clearly be seen
That he saw Tony Blair
And he'd rather be there
Than here at home looking at Simon Crean
Ta-daaa - What do you think???
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
...Shrillian... Posted Mar 22, 2002
I want a lei too!!!...please!!
Love the limerick Feisor....too good...
hmmmm......this hawaiian thing needs to be nipped in the butt before it gets out of control (and affects reality!! - mainly as i have nothing hawaiian)....
Speaking of which, where did that expression come from? "nipped in the butt"?????......darn...now i'm going to be thinking all day. I try to avoid that as much as possible
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
King Cthulhu of Balwyniti Posted Mar 22, 2002
I don't know about your version, but 'nipped in the bud' literally refers to cutting a bud off before it has a chance to flower, seed, etc., and hence gets extended to stopping something undesirable before it goes to far
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer... Posted Mar 22, 2002
nipped in the butt sounds a lot more painful
As for the hawaiian theme, already been done, albiet not through choice.

Sierra Indigo - now Cheesecakethulhu flavoured Posted Mar 22, 2002
Bah. Regardless of what's said I'll be wearin' a hawaiian shirt and drinkin' pineapple cruisers....I wish! *snicks* I'll prolly end up sober coz I'm just so gosh-durned poor right now ^.^
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
...Shrillian... Posted Mar 22, 2002
poor cheesecake.... Well, if everyone who turns up buys you a drink, then i'm sure that you'll have no problem turning squishy on your own!!
Groovy...one of my friends mailed me and had it written "butt", and i'd never heard that expression before, so i was wondering where it would have been derived from!! I guess she meant bud...thank you!!
I recently (finally!) found out where Pop Goes the Weasel was derived from! So that made me happy.....
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
Sierra Indigo - now Cheesecakethulhu flavoured Posted Mar 22, 2002
Aww..Thankoo Shrillian ^.^
I need to ask..Where DOES 'Pop goes the weasel' come from? Because to me, it just ends up sounding kinky...especially when you're not too sober and singing it *G*
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
...Shrillian... Posted Mar 22, 2002
Well, it orginated from a place in England. City road, used to be the tailoring district. And by the end of the week, the tailors would all run short of cash, so they would go and pawn their iron presses (weasels) in a building (?) called The Eagle, until payday, and then get them back...
as the song goes:
Up and down the City Road
In and out the Eagle
That's the way the money goes
Pop goes the Weasel
cool, huh?
It's funny trying to find out where the little nursery rhymes come from....you know about Ring-aRing of Rosies?
Sydney Meet 13th April 2002
Sierra Indigo - now Cheesecakethulhu flavoured Posted Mar 22, 2002
Oh yes..that's been an old favourite of mine for many years. It's rather surreal when a junior primary teacher sings that and the girl-child in her class pipes up with the fact that it's derived from various bits 'n' bobs during the plague *G*

Platypus 2 Posted Mar 22, 2002
Hi everyone, I guess I'm lucky, I already have a lei to wear.
Ring a ring a rosie is about the plague,
Rosie is the colour of the spots you get,
a pocketfull of posies refers to the herbe people carried around to avoid infection
a tishoo a tishoo, sneezzing all fall down - dead.
How about Mary Mary quite contrary?
Key: Complain about this post
