I would still go with the carrot. I don't burn wood, so a large stick would just be a log, which I wouldn't want to have around the house in case I tripped on it. A very small stick would be a toothpick, which I don't care about one way or the other.

I eat lots of carrots. A carrot of any size would be appreciated.
