Look - it's OK - I've got it now ... simple problem - I just had the chart upside down ..see!
*Rotates chart* ... so now Italy's up there ...and Egypt's across there, and Christmas Island is .... erm ... a hell of a long way off ... erm ...
*Draws line on chart, fiddles with dividers and parallel ruler*
OK ...with the wind backing East, and the Cap'n backing a horse in the next race ... allowing for Coriolis effect and the VAT on a Big Mac ... I make it ....left hand down a bit, Helmsman!

Ah, that's *much* better. So we are in the Mediterranean Sea now, are we? Well, are we going through the Suez Channel or around the Horn? What do you think, Kes? The Midle East is far from safe - but so is the horn right now

We have to hurry or we'll cause a traffic jam in the Street of Gibraltar

Round the Horn! Then we can have a decent "Crossing the Line" party in open sea! Helmsman! Left hand down a bit!

Round the horn it is then!
It's a good thing I have already been baptized by Neptune once. Wouldn't want that to happen more than once

*Returns to the bridge*
What rocks? What matches? We seem to be stuck. Where's the reverse gear on this thing? Full astern all sails! Toggle the whatsits and come about! Right hand up a bit, Helmsman ....
I'm back! That should get us moving again
