Does more than one user get to use the computer you're acessing the site from? If not, you may want to store a cookie.
If you do, go to http://www.h2g2.com/register and (assuming you've set a password using http://www.h2g2.com/UserDetails) sign in with your email and password, and check the 'always remember me on this computer' button. That way,hopefully each time you access the site the cookie file should tell the browser which skin you want.
I assume you're using goo primarily, but see alabaster when you aren't logged in?

I you are not logged in the site automatically selects alabaster. It has taken over from Goo as the site's primary skin.

Right then - I have tried as you suggested, Joanna, (I thought I'd checked that box on first entry ). Its one of those nuisancy things inasmuch as it only happens occasionally.. lets hope your ointment cures the condition.!
