Glad you like it! We released the new version of the site this morning - so it is probably looking a little different to when you last saw it

Well first of all welcome!
The front page changes everyday and gives lots of groovy places to go or you can just jump on another researcher or editor's coat tails and see what they do.
If you want to see what the Guide has to offer use the search box above and if there is a gap, perhaps you will write something for us?
Other then that just enjoy yourself!
Errmmm I am not very good at this - is there anything I have not mentioned that you want me to cover?

That pretty much sums up what I usually say to newcomers, except it takes me three times as many words to do so...
*waves at everyone he hasn't greeted yet*

No, that's great, thanks.
I'll slope about the place and see what's about.
Thanks again.

Hello again.
Erm... I've gone and written an entry. It is entirely factual and rather dull but my home town didn't have a place in the guide apart from some wag who'd said it was `mostly harmless` (that's using the old imagination, then) so I thought I'd fill in the gap.
It needs a sub to make it look pretty but I think it's ready to submit.
Thing is - I can't work out how to do it. Could you lend a hand?
Thanks.

Hi everybody! Once again I've journeyed to the library to use their computers. Hence the shortness of this message.
BTW Abi - the new look forum navigation makes things much easier to use! I like it lots (although I have only used it for a few minutes so far. I reserve the right to change my mind at a later date...)

Hope that helps!

Do you mean change so that you are no longer 'Researcher 137872' ?
Follow this link: http://www.h2g2.com/UserDetails
...and change the Nickname field from 'Researcher 137872' to whatever you'd like, and press the 'update details' button.
You also get to this option labelled 'preferences' on the left hand side of the screen (any screen) if you're seeing blue goo, or one of the orange buttons in the panel above the forum if you're using white, yellow and orange alabaster.
Hope this helps

Being a pesky nuisance, that I am .. could I ask about the function. It appeared as a button on one page I was on, but is it available at any other time.
Must congratulate everyone involved in the interface design ... WOW - has to be the best, just,,, TOP. 8¬o
