h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

AGB arrives with an unlimited supply of marshmallows and a long toasting fork.
Sitting down she pierces one and holds it out towards the flames.
Looking up at the night sky, she can see that Orion has risen, he's chasing Taurus again, on their endless quest...
She thinks of the many millions of souls who have watched this nightly parade.
Or maybe it's the same old souls, over and over again.
There is something so familiar about the constellations, overhead there's Cassiopeia with her supernova remnant at her feet...and there's the Plough, or as some call him, the Great Bear.
Toasted marshmallow done, AGB plucks it off the end of the fork, and pops it onto her lap while it cools a little.
Starting again with a new marshmallow, AGB looks around and wonders if any other muses are going to join her tonight...

I just love this place ... no noise, no pollution, just the campfire, the nature and the sky ...

*slicing some aubergines, marinating them with olive oil, garlic, rosemary and marjoram and puting them on the grid*

Please help yourself if you want one of these 'veggie' steaks

Ooh, marshmallows! I'm not quite a muse yet, but can I have some? Hmm, I wonder what starberries are like toasted...

[Twinkle pulls a sparkly bluish berry out of his pocket, impales it on a stick, and holds it over the fire. It glows, then suddenly explodes in a flurry of *s.]

[picks a * off his cloak and nibbles on it]

Ooh, not bad. Tastes kind of like a , only smaller. No wonder the moderators like them.

[Twinkle tosses another berry into the fire, sending multicolored *s flying everywhere. He then begins snatching them out of the air and putting them in his pocket.]

Anybody else want a toasted *?

Don't panic! It's a good fire, and everything's under control! Watching the stars makes me think of the "Armageddon" blockbuster, especially the old song "Leaving on a Jetplane". Do you think that would be an appropriate song for a campfire?

*sneaks in even though she isn't a muse, carrying her wooden flute, and the makings of 'smores*

(I just discovered smores while in the States. A wonderful concoction. Toast a marshmallow over the campfire. Place it on a graham cracker (nearest equivalent - digestive biscuit). Place a small square of on top of marshmallow. Top with another graham cracker. Wait for to melt. Eat. Very yummy and highly addictive.)

I'm more of the old fashioned campire variety: steaks, potatoes and . But I'm happy that you came here! There's always a place for you at the campfire.

I might take some minutes before you can lay your wieners onto the grid, I just put some more wood into the fire. The flames might be too hot right now. But if you like exploding wieners ....

A crate of is right over there in the creek, and AGB has brought some (I think she put it inot the creek as well).
