Watched it on Thursday - we actually saw both episodes back-to-back because I was in hospital for the first one, so it worked quite well. Giles' entrance was fantastic - I said at the beginning 'I hope Giles is in this one' but his name wasn't in the opening credits, so I assumed not. Excellent stuff.

I liked Xander saving the world, although they overdid the 'I'm so useless I can't even run away properly' motif beforehand rather too much. I liked Buffy and Dawn bonding over some monster slayage. I was worried Giles was going to die, but that would definitely prevent the BBC Giles series from happening, and I assume that's still a possibility.

And the final scene, with Spike: Wow! I didn't see that one coming at all. I was expecting Spike to be set up as the villain of the next season, but now I don't know what they're intending.

Quality-wise, not as good as other season finales - better than 4 but not the rest, I think.

i've not seen it but i have heard about it.

i like the whole idea of willow constantly stealing everybody's magic.

i cant wait to find out what happens to spike next season.....the possibilities are almost endless............i shall be scouting the net for relevant fan fics!

oh yeah,... and imagine how pised angel is going to be that spike got to the illusive humanity before he did!

so many of the logical things cant happend though because of lack of cross over between the two show. i mean, i know there would never be a great deal of staying in touch because the LA crew want to distance themselves from sunny and who they wre then, and the sunnydale crewhave been a little preoccupied. but realisticaly there should still be a little more over lap.

and by the way....any one know what the hell has happened to drusilla?
because wouldnt it be the ulitmate irony if she came and revamped spike like she did darla!?!?!?

The question is, is Spike human or is he now another vampire with a soul, like Angel? The latter is a lot more interesting, since they can play off all we've seen about Angel, and hopefully subvert all our expectations.

I agree.

Soul's give vamp's a conscience. (cite Angel and the mother of his child - whoose name I've just forgotten)

So Let's make Spike the antagonist again like he was when he took over the reigns from the Master's progidy. (C'mon own up you've missed that)

Only know he feels for everyone he kills - and best of all he really likes it.

could be interesting in a very sick sort of way.

i always wanted spike to get his chip out and no one notice for ages because he still behaves himself. it will be interesting to see how they deal with this development.

can someone tell me what we actually know for certain as i have been told what happens but i havent seen it.

Thought I was out, but.... had one more thing to add. I killed Tara. Some of you may have been hurt by that. It very unlikely it was more painful to you than it was to me. I couldn't even discuss it in story meetings without getting upset, physically. Which is why I knew it was the right thing to do. Because stories, as I have so often said, are not about what we WANT. And I knew some people would be angry with me for destroying the only gay couple on the show, but the idea that I COULDN'T kill Tara because she was gay is as offensive to me as the idea that I DID kill her because she was gay. Willow's story was not about being gay. It was about weakness, addiction, loss... the way life hits you in the gut right when you think you're back on your feet. The course of true love never did run smooth, not on my show. (only Dennis Franz has suffered more than my characters.) I love Amber and she knows it. Eventually, this story will end for all of them. Hers ended sooner.
Or did it......?

Everything that's going to happen

As people who have been around for a while know, I always like to get on the "net" and reveal aboslutely everything that's going to happen next year. That way, you don't spend all summer stressing. Here's the important points:

1) Buffy will become a "vampire slayer". I can't really explain what that means yet, 'cause Doug hasn't explained it to me. But it eems to point towards ADVENTURE!

2) Format change: from now on, the first half hour will be about Buffy FIGURING OUT what the monster is, and the second half hour will be about Sam Waterston PROSECUTING the monster.

3) We're easing back on the goats. There've been complaints.

4) Because of the coincidental movie name issue, we will no longer refer to the kids as the "Scooby" Gang. They will be known as the "Scooby Doo, The Film, Coming This Christmas To Your Local DVD Store" gang. Or possibly the "Sharks".

5) The gay thing is so passe. We're over that. But honestly, that's just the way Clem ACTS. We're having a talk.

6) A lot of people were confused at the end when Spike wanted his fish order changed. SOLE, people. Jeez. We HAVE a vampire with a SOUL, you think we're doing that again?
