Hmm. That's a bit far for me at the moment, I'm afraid. And I have no car, so anyplace not easily accessible via train will be difficult.

My mistake, it's in North Carololina. I thought it was here because the Duke Estate was here.

Doris Duke was raised in austere American castles on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Newport, RI ("Rough Point") and Somerville, New Jersey ("Duke Farms").

Welcome Oetzi and Fragilis! I've added you both to the list! smiley - smiley

Oetzi, you should chat with Lady Scott, Jimi X and the other Pennsylvanians. I'm sure they'll know all about Shamokin ... and I'm sure if he hasn't already, Jimi would be happy to write a Guide Entry about it! smiley - winkeye

How are you acclimating to the altitude here, Fragilis? I remember getting information about an apartment I had for flood insurance, and finding out I was 13 feet above sea level! Colorado can be a bit higher ... smiley - winkeye

I don't know when we're going to have the next NYC meetup. I'm hoping to at least arrange something around the time EvilRoy visits from Aussissippi next year! He can be one of the rare people to say he went to meetups in both hemispheres! smiley - biggrin

Did you notice the NERG logo?

Yes. I've already started the process for getting one. You have to get an okay from the Community Choice people, then put in a request for a graphic. I won't be able to do it, because CAs aren't allowed to do their own graphics, but we'll get badges eventually. smiley - ok

Jimi X is on board as well? Oh, good. smiley - cool

I'm acclimating just fine, Shea. While everyone else was complaining about last year's winter, I was laughing at them. smiley - winkeye I have a job and boyfriend now, and all is well. In fact, I'll have been here a year on Saturday. My mother will be coming in a couple of months to play tourist with me - which is great, because I otherwise don't feel like I should be one anymore!

Why can't the graphic seen in that just be cut out and made into a blob? smiley - erm I know we can't do it ourselves, but the fact that it's already drawn should simplify matters some, shouldn't it?

smiley - ermI'm afraid I don't know much about Shamokin, seeing as how I'm not a native Pennsylvanian...

I *think* I almost went there this summer though - we got kinda turned around trying to find our way back to the interstate when we left Knoebel's this summer. It might have been someplace else, though - they have some *strange* sounding names for towns in the mountains!

I like it. All it needs is a small factory smokestack in the corner.

It already has been blobbed, Lady Scott. That's the point of Community Art Requests. If you have a legitimate club, you can request a banner and badges for it. All the information is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/RF22

So when will we be able to use it?

Shea the Sarcastic

Well, first it has to be made. smiley - winkeye

We have to get an okay from the Community Choice, then I have to put in a request at the Community Art Requests page. I'm waiting on the Community Choice folk. Since we're so short of Italics, it'll probably take a while. We need to be "classified" in the Guide.

Guess what? We're now eligible for a banner and badge! smiley - wow

Here's the scoop:

I thought I'd throw this out to everyone here, so if you've got an idea, tell it. If we come up with a general idea, I can put in the request. We need to come up with what the banner should look like ... what type of picture, and any particular colors we want.

Ideas?
