I haven't really ever heard of any "core values." Could someone link me to a list? 
As DNA was an athiest, however great an author he was, the list of core values if it does exist must be very short...

Well, I'd say the core values would be just coming into the community and enjoying (and joining in on) the whole spirit of h2g2

So they're basically nothing really. Almost non-existant. Just that everybody ought to have an account and post at least once a week or so. Just "hooray4h2g2!" eh? Nerd42

you'd call the House Rules "core values?" well ok ...
the underlying principle of the House Rules seems to be the Golden Rule, wouldn't you say?

hmm ... i'm again thinkin now what I was sort of thinking back when this thread started ... should I become an Ace?
I'm thinking and wandering in valleys of indecision on this point.
Am I the type of researcher who makes a good Ace?
Would I be accepted?
Would I do a good job?
Helping people: love to! comes from being an Eagle Scout I guess.
Navigation/technical-question-answering: I know a little, and what I don't konw I know who to ask ... not a prob ...
Scaring people off: 
I hope not ...
overbearing self-promoter: will try not to be ... but if I was granted the title of Ace I would like to give lots of links in welcome messages, not only to 
and help pages and cool entries / clubs but also to my own site(s) ... is that bad? good? I've seen several different Aces messages with lists of links, and links to lists of links... hmm
