The battery in my mobile ran out, just as i heard the voice of my lodger.
He hasn't rung back yet.

maybe he can't get the money in.

I don't think his mobile has a slot for money. Unless he was using a call box. If he was using a call box I'd have expected him to ring the house phone.
I don't understand why he hasn't rang back.
Perhaps he thinks I hung up on him.

perhaps he knows something we don't!!!!

maybe he knows why he hasn't called me back

may be he was kidnapped by a frog!

maybe he forgot what he was ringing for because he was distracted by a passing naked lady mud wrestler.

That is the one thing that always distracts him; Women...

he could be an and was whisked off to hyperspace.

I think that isn't as likely as some other explinations that I've not thought of yet. I'm going off line.
I am going to go to the toilet.
I am going to put on a pair of trainers, a pair of shorts, and a tee-shirt.
I am then going to get on the exercise bike and ride it.
I will then get a shower.

He arrived back early today we went to the pub I just did my shopping I'm going to go to bed I think its nearly 4 AM

it's now morning again.Has the lodger metamorphised or anything else interesting during the night ...we must investigate.

He has gone into work.
