A Conversation for Talking Point - h2g2 Redesign
Keep Goo

I am a die-hard gooist. It was the only skin available when I started on h2g2 and nothing since has bettered it. To abandon it seems to me like abandoning DNA.
This site is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and SHOULD look different from corporate BBC sites. It SHOULD look a little offbeat and wacky, just like the books/movie/radio shows were a little offbeat and wacky. If it was just another wiki or message board, then fine, make it look BBCish. But it's not - its the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, based on DNA's vision. To lose the old skins mean losing a significant part of its identity. The BBC bought this site because of its success and the success depended upon people feeling linked to DNA's Hitchhiker world. Losing the skins breaks one more of those links.
At the very least, Goo should remain a choice for the user.

No, in those old, prehistorical times when DNA was still with us, the community was much smaller.
And there was no brunel users at all.
I never changed my default skin either.

Whether or not Goo is kept i think it is fine as it is - i don t think the bbc would be criticised for not keeping those rebellious h2g2 researchers sufficently under their thumbs
SO why not let us stay as we are

I agree, i do not think it should follow with the rest of the BBC sites. But if it must at least keep goo as a option, otherwise it loses its personality.

agreed, it should be an option. If you want set something new as the default option, but let us goo fans change to it if we want.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
