Sounds pretty streight forward. Basically I say what I do and not how it affects the person my action is directed toward?

that's usually the nicest way to go about it...
and- you're a villain, right?- just so you know, i have healing powers, so i usually help out the villains in case of severe injury.

Oh, and just so you know, people are also not supposed to invent new powers and abilities for themselves.

What do you mean invent? you mean like if you have a 'superpower' once you say what you have you cant add or remove them? Does this also applie to equipment and weapons or are those okay as long as you an provide an explination for them?

What powers and weapons you can and cannot have are rather difficult to define. However, in my experience, it can work relatively well in this pattern: you start off with some base powers and/or weapons, nothing too powerful. As time progresses, you can add onto those, but you need some form of explanation (and this usually means that you must initiate the creation of these powers in a previous post, instantaneous creations still make people upset.)
Don't worry, though, if you pretty much just "play fair" you'll do alright. Of course, more often than not, the heroes are worse at continuity than the villains,...but that's why I've got plan Beta, isn't it?
