Giford's 52-Week Bible Study
Created | Updated Apr 2, 2010
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
- 2 Timothy 3:16
There are many books and websites devoted to encouraging people to read the Bible. Many of them take a daily or weekly short quote from the Bible and suggest the message to be taken from it. These verses are invariably carefully chosen to fit with the beliefs of the preacher. In this series, I will attempt to highlight some of the less well-known verses in the Bible - the strange, contradictory, evil or just plain weird.
Key
Length:
1 = part of a verse
2 = a verse
3 = several verses
4 = a chapter
5 = more than one chapter
Controversy
This is a measure of the difficulty in interpretation of the text (alternative versions, translations or meanings). It is not intended as a measure of how controversial the verses are among modern religious groups.
