Beanfoto, you should logout, and login as NOTICEBOARD, password NOTICEBOARD, as is stated on the noticeboard. Check there whether it should be uppercase or lowercase.
After you are logged-on as noticeboard, edit/save the userpage.
Be carefull and preview, do not destroy the table-structure by accident.
Logout again, and login as yourself.

In my prefernces whats the diff between normal user mode and expert user mode cause I dont think Im an expert but if its got some diddy feature I might have to dub myself such

Vahliare, the only difference (right now, at least) seems to be that

...Expert mode adds a 'Tree Gadget' to your Conversation display for more technical naviagation of Conversations; you can find more information about the Tree Gadget here. 'Normal' simply doesn't add the Tree Gadget.
