We dont need some much protection
JK the unwise Posted Jan 24, 2001
Most laws are superficially good
but they deny us of more
freedom then they give us
of benefit.

Laws & there enforcment are a bargin we have all made, the name of that bargin is 'Civilization'.

The Unmentionable Marauding Pillowcase Posted Jan 24, 2001
If civilisation works as well as it could and as it should it can be extremely empowering to every individual in it. I think the legal system we have is not so bad, but I think we might find a better way to organize things and get things done. I think new technology can and will totally change the way we run the world. But not just new technology, also new ideas. The upshot of the information age is that there are now more ideas out there than ever before, and they are interacting with each other much more rapidly than ever before. This leads to a kind of "evolution of ideas".

OK! It is back. I can;t remember the original point of this thread, but the immediate backlogs fairly groovy. Hi all!
More to Read - i think that was it. Oh yes - we used to post links here but we can't really do that any more - except to links within the bbc, and some of them can be pretty good... such as...
err. I'll find one later
The links thing can be really annoying, but lets just say 'hunger site, zmag, urban 75 and see what gets
Any volunteers for putting together a links page Something like the HIP? I think its also time to go recruiting again - there are more people on the guide, some of whom are doing similar UCB ish stuff (wotever that is) with lots of opinions to debate. I'm thinking of putting together a links page of coversation threads, cos there are some gooduns going on on lots of interesting topics. Eg Trigger Happys Communism thred.
Oh yes. And Badges. I've made badges. Check purplejennys page for our froody tiny logo, and copy it to your page.
big tired hugs (i'm working silly hours again)

purplejenny Posted Jul 12, 2001
The problem with the offsite UCb is that the server can be very slooooooooooowwwwwwww.
have patience and check it our cos there are some gr8 links there on the Resources page, but its sometimes impossibly slow.
Which is why i was thinking of doing a guide entry featuring the same links. If you have any good URLs - related to politics, environment, civilisation, utopia etc perhaps you can email them to me, at [email protected]. Also, aside from the HIP page and the new politics forum, are there any Utopiaish pages / groups on h2g2 that I've missed? Links for them or the bbc can be posted to this forum, the Mods are happy with links within the bbc.
Cheers
