There's no reason to hide. I thought it was a rather good article.
It could use a little more of an introductin. It seemed like I was diving into a lake before realizing it might be really cold. (which it wasn't, I would consider it a bathtub temp) Newayz... you might include something along the lines of why the uniforms changed. (you might have to speculate here, try matching the years with what was going on with history or something. it waould make a great addition) You might have to do a little more research to get some of that info also.

I have no information at all on the Adult wear, other than what I can remember myself, and the information on the senior section is very skechy. I think Brownies and Guides tend to take over everything else. Since I can't get any further info on those two sections I thought it best to leave them out, rather than trying to guess and get it wrong.

Problem is, the entry isn't really complete without the final two sections. I'm sure there's plenty of information out there if you're prepared to look - have you got in contact with your County Archivist to see if she has any information you could use?

nope, I've emailed CHQ but I'm expecting to get the answer of "well you can book an appointment to look through the archives" whick will be not help to me since I live in yorkshire and they are down in london. Besides if the information had been recorded why isn't it included on the history of uniforms on the Girlguiding UK's website?

the adult section could end up quite big as they have a habbit of ranomly adding things to the uniform rather than changing the whole lot, like the new striped shirt for instance

I've found some info from our county archivist (who is also my mum...) - I'll put it into a separate entry and give you the A-number so you can copy/paste it.

It's deficiencies like this that make projects like yours even more worthwhile, MP. Just think, when you've done it, it'll be about the only place where the info is conveniently available. (I often wonder/worry about the value of Entries where one can find the info by mixing and matching a few websites). Things that are totally original are much more worthwhile. You might even have to go and interview a few people.
A few years ago I went to the former Soviet Union (Moscow and St Petersberg) with about 20 other Scout Leaders with a view to help them re-start Scouting following the fall of communism. In fact, Scouting there had never really died,; just been driven undergreound. So all these old boys came out of the woodwork sporting their original uniforms, badges etcetc. Really interesting.

oh thanks
I didn't mean it like that big Al some of the info I have on the senior section uniform is from people who used to be Rangers, but I don't have any info of particular value on the uniform before the 1960's, plus there were four lots of rangers land, sea and air, and normal. then add to that the cadets who are now called young leaders. so you can see the uniform for that particular section is a nightmare.

A4623662 - copy and paste away! I hope it's useful!
My mum (who is also a chief commissioner...) read your entry - she says she's very impressed at all the information you've already got there, and she thinks it's a great entry already. She noticed some errors/typos though:
You say Rainbow tabbards were in 7 colours, but they were only in 6: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet.
In the Guide section: "During the sixes the skirts got shorter" should read 'During the sixties...'
Other than that, it's looking great!
