This is really interesting, because I used to be a Brownie. I miss seeing the uniform I used to wear on Brownies now though.

"turned up wearing a miss mash of Scout uniform, in 1909, at the Crystal Palace rally" It sounds like after Scout uniform it should say 'and something', because mish-mash means a mix of unrealated things. It would probably be better to change that word, or add 'Scout uniform and their normal clothing'.

Some tweaks that need to be made to the text - some of these are typos, and some are changed to fit the EG guidelines.

Finally during the 90's the uniform -> Finally during the 1990s the uniform

The tabards still come in all sic colours -> The tabards still come in all six colours

between seven and 10 years of age -> between seven and ten years of age

When Brownies first started, they were in fact called 'Rosebuds They didn't -> When Brownies first started, they were in fact called 'Rosebuds'. They didn't

girls aged between 10 and 14 years of age -> girls aged between ten and 14 years of age

A shorter skirt, which was just below the knee, was introduced, The shirt changed -> A shorter skirt, which was just below the knee, was introduced. The shirt changed

In the 1940's -> In the 1940s

When you talk about the uniform change in 1990, in Brownies you just mention Jeff Banks, then in the Guides section you call him 'designer' Jeff Banks. It might be better if you called him 'fashion designer' and used it in the Brownie section, so people aren't left wondering who he was and why he got a name check. There's a link here, if you want to add it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/arts/sites/fashion/pages/jeff_banks.shtml

You also mention Ally Capellino - it would be a good idea to do the same (or similar) with him as well. Not everyone will know who they are.

I'm getting a broken link for Ally Capellino. smiley - erm It looks like it's the offical page, so maybe it's temporary. You might need to find another link if it doesn't come back up.

Looking good though. smiley - biggrin

By crediting me for what I've done, I meant putting my U-number (U223973) in the authors box at the end of the editing page. If that's OK, that is smiley - blush

Mol - on the new tablet

smiley - wah This is such a good entry, I sooooo want to nitpick and I don't have time! Mina picked up some, but there are a few more places where typos and punctuation need a bit of sorting.

I was going through my uniform this weekend, getting ready for camp. You don't mention the camp dress (no longer available, sadly, but I can still squeeze into mine) which was around in the sixties and seventies - or was this the same as the uniform dress of the thirties smiley - erm?

Astonished to find that Jeff Banks redesigned us in 1981, I would have put it at around 1983 when the new slimmed down handbook came in, but perhaps I just got my new uniform late. I'm sure Brownies got polo shirts with Jeff's relaunch. What did Brownies wear on their legs before they were allowed to wear long socks in 1929? smiley - tongueout

Also, the coloured promise badges ... they came in after I had my warrant, I'm sure, which would be after 1992.

The point of the necker/tie was that it had a practical function as a triangular bandage if needed - I've a feeling that even the ones which looked like wide ties were in fact carefully folded large triangles.

Perhaps worth saying that it's not really a uniform nowadays - Guides can wear what they please on their lower body, and most of mine just wear a gilet over ordinary clothes on the top half. And maybe it was just my county, but all the top brass seemed to go for the cardies and silk scarves when mix and match first came in for adults - those of us actually running units tended to be the ones in sweatshirts and jog pants!

*Please* poke this back up my conversation list, I'm a bit busy this week (out buying all the non-perishables tomorrow night smiley - cdouble) and might not get back again before I go, but not ignoring you I promise.

Mol

Urm... Jeff Banks was 1990, not 1983, like it says in the entry, dunno where you got 1983 from, Mol!

And thanks for the credid, Mizzpinky smiley - cheers
