The h2g2 Ministry of Science and Technology, and the San Betian Embassy

5 Conversations

Located deep within the residential areas of the Space Station Big C lies a virtual extension of Alabaster House, office to President of h2g2 Peregrin, and Vice President Bluebottle. The whole set of offices within the Station are inside one small room, but in this room is a temporal vortex containing vast amounts of space - the offices are located within.

These are the offices belonging to Professor Christopher Tonks, who not only is head of an entire GalaGroup, but also faithfully serves the h2g2 President as Minister for Science & Technology and h2g2 Ambassador to San Beta. This fairly immense complex inside the temporal vortex is where the Professor acts out his duties as Minister and Ambassador, and is usually here to answer any questions people may have. Additionally, as this is the only area of the Space Station where the public may enter, it is sealed off within the vortex, totally disallowing anyone out, apart from through the teleporter room.

And it is here where you enter. You step off the round platform you materialised on, and take a look around. A door is right in front of you, so you head for that. It opens as you approach, and lets you through. You are now within the Central Corridor, which leads up to the Reception. As you walk along the Corridor, you come across two doors, one on the left and one on the right. The left one leads to the Minister's Office, while the one on the right leads to the Department of VR. Up at Reception, you find another two doors. The one on the left this time leads straight to the Ministry for Science & Technology, while the other door heads into the Embassy.
Please choose where you want to go...

Well, looks like we're back online after a long long wait. Still, worth it eh? We're now backed by a great company, and the servers are faster! The only annoying thing (apart from a few of those House Rules of course, but hey) is that banner add at the top which keep making me screen and cursor jump around in RL. Most distressing...

Anyway, as I did in the ezboard forum, I would like to allow this page to become a discussion area for all things relating to various technical things. I know Bruce has his own page of course, but this is where we can discuss it in general terms, not just h2g2.

So then, hope to see you in the area! Oh, and I'm having those prezzies from San Beta brought over, no worries...

Finally, the Ministry and Embassy have been set up! It's taken, what, four months for my good self to get around to doing this, but it's finally here. So then, if you want to talk about science, or wish to find out about San Beta, please visit the appropriate thread in the forum below, and talk to me!

Oh yes, I'll be off to San Beta itself for a week or so on the 28th of this month, so if anyone wants me to import anything from there, please let me know, as I'm already taking orders...

Within the Office Vortex

The Reception

This is the Reception Desk, where all your questions about the Office Vortex in general are answered. You may ask about how the Vortex works, may ask about the Space Station Big C, and may find out as much as you want about the various offices around here.

The thread is here.

The Minister's Office

Here you'll find the good Professor, Christopher Tonks, hard at work with his duties as Minister and Ambassador. He is usually around here dealing with various issues related to science (after all, he is a great scientist), and is almost always in communication with San Beta. Knock on the Office door, and come on in! I'm sure he'll be willing to talk to you personally about anything you wish to discuss.

The thread is here.

The Ministry for Science & Technology

Ah yes, the main area of the Offices Vortex. This is the Ministry where we take care of all matters relating to science and technological issues. If you have any qualms about violent telephone booths or questions on how to stop that old power tower from spinning like a lunatic on its axis, don't hesitate to place your problems before us. Naturally, we do prefer to recieve praise, but even on h2g2 things don't always go quite as planned. We do appreciate your suggestions though, and if you feel that there's a suitable law to be passed, let us know!

The San Betian Embassy

Here is the Embassy to San Beta, a very large GalaGroup of six galaxies governed by GalaGroup Overseer Prof. Chistopher Tonks, who is of course also Minister for S & T. In addition, he is the h2g2 Ambassador to San Beta due to his incredably strong ties to the place and h2g2. Anyway, what with San Beta being the top GalaGroup in the Treaty of Multi-Political Hierarchies, h2g2 is now in a very good position to get just what it wants. So, if you want to arrange special imports of Osian Sub-Ice Cream or Canfrieda Wine, or you want to engage in other intergalactic trade, please pay a visit to this place!

NOTE: Unfortunately, due to constraints of continuity, only Pr. C. Tonks may actually go to San Beta.

The Department of VR

Very well, so this Department isn't actually set up yet, but when in place it aims to make sure that people follow the rules of Virtual Reality and continuity, and that any misunderstandings in the two are sorted out. The Professor was preparing to begin a Project for the h2g2 University of Life about this subject, but it was rejected. All the same, he intends to keep it going unofficially, so if you want to contribute please head over there.

The Project Index Page can be found here.
