thought as much from the trailers ,and no female werewolves as Americans are sqeaumish about such things (dont know who said the last bit )on a review show of some kind .thanks for the warning tho

Well, "The Howling" certainly had female werewolves in it...

The main problem with the film was that it had a bad director. At some points it almost seemed like the director said to himself "Gee, it's not enough like The Matrix - I'll add a thundering soundtrack so it'll look more like it." I thought the basic plot of the film kept it moving forward, however it could have been much more interesting if the direction had been more polished.

also thought that the emphasis was a little off - let's face it, the basic storyline was a supernatural version of "Romeo and Juliet" - what we got was less interesting though. It seemed as though the filmakers couldn't decide whether they wanted to emphasize the romantic nature or the action adventure nature or possibly the intrigues. What we got was a sort of mishmash.

Bottom line - interesting enough, although it could have been MUCH better with a better direction and a little more thought given to what plot was being told.

I thought it was pretty good EXCEPT... the guy the played Kraven was horrible. Absolutely horrid.
