Shag bark
Try this experiment. See if god can speak to you while you are drinking a glass of water. Whenever I hear voices I listen to them if I like what they say, if not, I hold my hand over my mouth and the voices stop.
A schizophrenic has a disconnect in his head so that he's unaware that the voice he hears is his own.

Next you'll be telling me that I'm not really married-
that when my wife reads me something it is really me doing the reading.

Really married? Well, as far as I am concerned, you can't be really married unless you entered into the state with the full rites of the heathen community... LOL, not really, it's fine.
But did you have to go to a registrar's office to do a civil ceremony as well as your oaths before your god?

Just popping by to say it's wonderful to see this conversation still happening, and still sucking in newbies far more than the other religion threads do. And it still has its compliment of polytheists, making it so much more interesting than the other religion threads, which are all atheists v. Christians.
Somewhere in the depths of this conversation you'll find me and my brother moke posting as Jehovah's Witnesses. He still is. I,a few years later, am now an atheist.
Life continues to be interesting.
TRiG.

Thomas Jefferson quote: "Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear."

In Louisiana (USA) the governor just signed a bill into law that allows concealed weapons in churches...because you know, the answer to WWJD? is definitely "pop a cap in their asses." But I wonder if he (and the state legislature that wrote and passed the bill) thought about the fact that a Muslim mosque is also a church, and there is a church of Satan, and then there's the Scientologists, Wiccan covens, etc... or do they just feel that only Christians have the right to protect themselves? I'm sure that if a Mosque placed armed guards out front there would be a definite backlash, but it's ok to arm pedophiles...The reasoning given for this ridiculous law was that churches in poor neighborhoods might get robbed of their collection money and so should be allowed to have armed guards.

People carrying concealed guns are safer /inside/ the churches than /outside/ them. Safer for the rest of us, that is...
Maybe we should try to get a law passed that people can /only/ have concealed guns inside churches?
