He picks me up in a 1972 Datsun, which, he tells me, he paid 50 bucks for. The car is so bad that as we are driving down the road, I can see that selfsame road between my feet. And did I mention it was February? And that the car had no heat? And that we were going somewhere fancy for dinner, so I was wearing a dress and heels? Well, of course, you say.
Then we get to the "fancy" restaurant. Not that I expected a five star New York place, but still--Denny's? And if Denny's is fancy, then what the heck do this man consider downscale?
Well, so much for being wined and dined, but I figured what the heck, the band we are going to go hear is at a small, intimate bar, maybe it will be better...
The bar was small, alright. It was some guy's basement. And everyone was drunk, and the floor was covered in fluids, some of which I was sure were bodily. It was bad. No, it was terrible. It was beyond that.
And then, finally, when he took me back to my house, shoes ruined, hair and clothes smelling like stale beer, cigarette smoke, and other substances, he has the audacity to tell me that I was the only woman he's ever treated this nicely, and could he have a kiss? Or better yet, would I invite him in for breakfast?
Needless to say, breakfast was right out, as was he.

Thanks for that!!!
Boy, am I glad I am not the only one!
I could picture you in my head, if the car had broken down, pedalling along like Fred Flintstone, just to get home.
I am sure you changed your name/address/job/ etc. to make sure he *couldn't* find you again?
I've had to change phone numbers...luckily that was always enough to put off repeat offenders...
Luckily though, I've never had so many disasters as to put me off men for life....
