Hallo, all! Here are some answers to the questions posed...
-Instrument: I had individual vocal training and choir training, and I've sung any part from Alto to Mezzo Soprano to Soprano. I can almost kind of play piano, but not well.
-Favorite artist/composer/band: Um, the Beatles for all three. McCartney is the best composer/artist, but as a band, the Beatles stand out. German classical composers are cool, too, my favorite being Mozart.
-What I want or can contribute: hmmm... My knowledge of GuideML has increased exponentially in the last few days, but I'm not good enough to help out yet. I can help out on entries or write some, if the need arises.

I'd also like to join the Musician's Guild. My main instrument is violin/fiddle, which I've been playing since I was very, very small, but I also play banjo, mandolin, guitar, and some trombone. These days, I play classical music, old-time fiddle music, and some country, but I have in the past played jazz, rock, punk, and reggae. I listen to lots and lots of things. For classical music, my favorite composers are Bach, Beethoven, Ives, Schonberg, and Glass; but for the last year or so it's been really hard to drag me away from Parliament/Funkadelic and classic soul like Otis Redding and Sly and the Family Stone. But I like virtually everything, and crave to learn to play the bass (electric and upright), accordion, and the saw. We'll see.

Well, TC, it is the same genre, isn't it?
Sorry you're in a sour mood. *smiles understandingly*

Well, I've bucked up a bit, but the cause of it (several large and important files ruined on hard disk, as well as mail setup mucked up) is still there.
... er, what's the same genre as what? Big bands and Swing? - Usually.

yay! :o)
I would indeedy like to join said guild
From my nick name you've probably guessed what I play
...that's right the piano! Actually I do play the violin too, and pretty much anything else with keyboards, also the bass gee-tar.
If you'd like to check out my page at http://www.h2g2.com/U157792
you can follow a link through to my bands web site.
Early medieval, renaisance and baroque are definitely my cup of tea easpecially in the strings department.
Also very much into Delirious?, Travis, U2 lots of stuff really but a lot of guitar based rock-ish bands. Bought JJ72 album yesterday and was quite impressed!
As anyone done a feature on the violin in the guide yet, like history how its made type of music etc etc...? Could certainly contribute some useful info for that.
Also I've just built my own bass so I'd love to share that with everyone too!
Anyway, go to go - hope to discover some more cool muso stuff in the Guild!

Had a listen to your band. Which one are you? I think my browser wasn't compatible, but the information was a bit scarce, like who plays which instrument.
Not bad for Nottingham!

Erm yeah! I can't believe we missed such an obvious piece of information :o(
I'm actually doing some updates to the site at the mo, so I will make sure that I add this in!
I'm the bass player - so I'm the one with that luvverly photo of Eyore! ...sad I know, but it was either silly/sad or embarrasing when it came to the photos so we went for the former!
Regarding browser compatibilities, I'm afraid I've been a bad boy and the whole thing only works with IE4 or greater. If you use Netscape then please let me have any error messages and I'll get round to sorting them out one day!
Problem is when I first did the site I relied on HTML & script produced by an evaluation copy of Dreamweaver and I didn't realise until much later it had only written stuff for compatibility with IE!
thanks for your feedback anyway :o)
bye for now

you're welcome. Not so much incompatibility as I think there was quite a bit missing. But maybe the updates will iron that out.

I'd like to join.
I play cello, and have been dabbling in composition using a midi maker.
My favorite composer is Pachabel, and my favorite bands are the Beatles, Bush, and Metallica.
I want to join because I want to be a part in discussions about music with other people interested in music.

Hello,
I would like to join you guys. I play flute, recorder, a little oboe, and am teaching myself piano. I also like ditsing around on the harp, but never have taken any formal training in that instrument. Same with the harpsichord, I will learn it after I graduate (I hope!).
Favorite composers would be Bach, Mozart, Telemann(!) and others from that era. For modern groups, I really like NiN and Depeche Mode, almost anything depressing is good.
I have a pretty good knowledge of music, and I would like to be able have discussions with people about all sorts of music. Those are really my only hopes for belonging to the Guild.
May I join please?

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me! Posted Nov 16, 2000
I would very much like to join the H2G2 musicians guild.
I have been playing Bass guitar for 20 years now (still no good though!) in various bands - check out my homepage for the whole story. I own a black Fender Precision that I bought in 1982 and a Sei Flamboyant 5 string that I had made for me in 1997. Check out the link in the drop down menu to the Sei Bass website on my home page.
My fave band or artist - that's a difficult one, it tends to change, so here is a list of several for starters:
The Stranglers
Thin Lizzy
Genesis
Queen
Seal
Rush
Marillion
I have spoken with Quorthorn over several months about equipment, bands techniques and things, so I can offer a limited ammount of knowledge which, I will happily share with all guild members who care to ask.
That's about it!

I'm an amateur singer, and like many guilders I rate the Beatles as the best band ever. My favourite contemporary band are a bunch of brilliant Swedes who call themselves Bob Hund. My knowledge of classical music is limited, but what I've heard of Beethoven rocks big time, and there is this piano guy called Satie who's rather elegant. I'd also like to mention Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.
I don't have the time to take on any w*rk I'm afraid, and I want nothing from the Guild except a good time with fellow music lovers.
