Ok Doctor J., we'll put you on the list of pending members, but you're quite welcome to join in the discussions any time you like. Because of the nature of our cause, membership of this club is..... somewhat fuzzy.
I feel that the UK team must have to be awarded the gold medal at last - I think just about everyone else has turned up by now, although I did hear a rumour that the French team still haven't got around to showing up for the '68 games in Mexico City. Now that's dedication

Perhaps it's not always how long it takes you to get there that matters...unless you're up against one of those pesky deadlines. My sympathy for the unopened bills. I just made it through a stack of them myself. Like time, they wait for no one.

Bills? *Cringes in terror* Grr, now I'm all tense! Somebody get me another gin and tonic, please... or some kind of , I guess, just something...
Hmmm. I've got the remote. Anybody want to watch some football? That should take my mind off b*lls for a little while.

Heyyyy! Relax. I wasn't going to open them. I was just looking at them and wondering whether there was some sort of award for having a collection this large.
Come to think of it, there probably is but I just haven't got round to opening the envelope that contains the information yet.
*Helps himself to since nobody else seems to want it.*

Fast, Forward, and Rush? Sounds like a firm of solicitors (yeah, I used to read a lot of Private Eye). Who (or what) are FF+R, and how can The Society obtain their services? They sound like every procrastinator's second dream - the first of course, being someone who will start the job for you *as well as* finish it. Dang, we could give them so much work! Do they give frequent procrastinator miles? We must open an account with them immediately.... oh, hang on, it said "...strictly cash in advance".
And welcome to Curator Chick. The only price of joining this society is that you bring along an old piece of furniture, or anything of a second-hand and shabby nature which will be useful or decorative in our meeting place, The Palace Flophouse and Grill. If it looks particularly clean and tidy in here, that's because we all at one time or another have several things to put off, and tasks that we'd rather not do, so we come here to avoid them

Thank you. As for useful items for the procrastinator's clubhouse, let me recommend subscriptions to the Chronicle, Lingua Franca, and any other favourite academic/professional magazines in your field of choice. They allow you to procrastinate on doing real work and justify it by saying you are "reading the current literature in your field." I think I'm about read more for my feminist art theory paper (note I didn't say anything about writing it) and then go write in my anthropology field notebook, and probably post a description of each on my webpage--because I am procrastinating as long as possible on my classical languages (I've done almost no greek homework in three weeks). When I think about it, my whole life is a form of procrastination--trying to find the right balance between taking every course I possibly can to learn things and prolonging the time I have to take courses and have it paid for before I have to get a full-time job.
I will be glad to put an ordinary link to your page on mine, but if you want an image link you will have to post the GuideML code for doing that either to a conversation on my site or here (like Amy the Ant did for the Museum). . . I'm too lazy to upload it to my server and all that.

Well Kathy, as you will find out from The Society's page, laziness and procrastination are two very different things, but here's the GuideML code for our logo if you want to put a link on your personal space... umm, do I have to put the tag in here before I write GuideML into a forum anyone? I suppose it won't hurt to put it in any way, even if you don't need to
You'll obviously need to change the embed command if you want the picture in different place, and you can change the alt text too or just leave it out altogether. You can also turn it into a link, but I've forgotten how to do that. And thanks for the magazines - they'll amke it look like we're doing something serious in here

anne girl (Lady Anne of Balwyniti)(cs soprano) (Minister of UCAIURLORRR) Posted Nov 24, 2000
The way to make the logo into a link is to put the tags before and after the (or wait, is it in GuideML?) tags. I don't have the tags up, and it still seems to work just fine. See how much good we can accomplish if we all procrastinate together?
Now, Gosho, question. I've got a geocities site now, and I'm wondering, how does one upload pictures so that he may use them elsewhere on the net? Right now, the logo for the society adorns my page, just because, and I haven't been able to create anything else that will work. (I was gonna try to create a logo for the h2g2 Choral Society, you see...)

Hello Amy, nice to see you here. Welcome to our little society, situated here at The Palace Flophouse and Grill - mi casa su casa. When you have a task that you'd rather put off until another time, browse through the previous posts to get some procrastinating tips, and since you've got the kettle on, milk with no sugar please. Ahhhh, nothing beats a nice cuppa. You'd have thought one of the new smileys would be for tea wouldn't you. After all, there's one for coffee! Oh well.

A cup of tea would be nice, it's been raining all day, and just generally miserable out. (Milk and sugar in mine.) And, yes, there should be a smiley right here:
I should go and play around with my logo for the Choral Society again... then again, there are so many conversations I haven't posted to in a while... Mmm. We'll see what gets done, won't we?

A logo! Wow!!!
From the CS started, I was going to put up some competition about that, but all the time I have said to myself -
I'll do it tomorrow...

...you just never got around to it That's the spirit ox! Right now I should really should be trying to get hold of the cable people to sort out the two bills they sent me, one of which is due on Thursday, but of course, I'm here instead. I guess I really ought to do that thing though, or they'll cut off my access to h2g2 Oh well, if I spend ages with them on the phone, I won't have time to do the laundry before I go to work later. I think that's an acceptable trade-off
