That's not bad.
I still think I will have to take the car though, as trains back to Essex stop ridiculously early.
I won't be able to drink, but that's probably a good thing when I am with people I don't know very well.
Is it likely to be an all day thing or just evening?

Things people who can get to Oxford can usually get to London because its probably quite near for them. But the opposite isn't true. The railway station is a hike from the centre as I recall, and don't they have park and ride schemes? isn't parking in the town centre difficult?

Yep, Oxford's got loads of park & ride stuff; the coach I mentioned is doubly useful as it has stops at at least one of them in Oxford (at Thornhill? is that right?) and it goes direct to the centre of Oxford.
That sentence has broken all previous records for multiple usage of the word 'Oxford'.

What we should do is have two meet-ups at the same time, one in an internet café in London, and one in an internet café in Oxford. Then it can be one big virtual meet-up.

Except the only internet cafe in Oxford only has a dual-ADSL line between 15 computers, is horrible expensive, and has nasty 14" flatbed TFT screens which all have "You didn't Shutdown your computer properly, and now Scandisk is going to take over your computer" perpetually running.

We can have a virtual meet from our own homes without going anywhere!
Rather like now.
Lets get out in the big wide world, shall we have a head count of votes?

So have we discounted all the other possible venues?
(Do you think this is how the Olympic committee decides who's going to host the Games?)

J'au-æmne Posted Sep 7, 2000
Don't TPTWVH get to decide? Or do we give them a fait accompli?

Demon Drawer Posted Sep 7, 2000
IS that what they are calling the new Fiat? (
ps I hope that one is spelt right or the joke falls down here)
Wow and who's going to stump up for that? Oh and Crusader will probably give a speech about cars being dangerous, noisy poluutants, just don't say I haven't warned you.

Listen Joanna you're meant to back me up until the 18th at least. And I was looking through car brochures today, checking out how to pend the pay rise.

*still giggling at the concept of anyone actually still being on board and dry at the end of the great punting expedition*
Umm, anyway why don't we all just go on one of those big "Mystery Trips" that the coach company's advertise. That way we'd get to go somewhere which none of us wanted to and for only half the price...and no-one could be held responsible as none of us would know where we were going

Save it or give it to charity. **
But the fiat Punto advertisment with the crash test dummies is a must see...

Oh yes, I nearly cried when I first saw it.

*confused*
Do I have permission to buy a car then or not. If I do buy one I mayy be able to give people lifts from a nearby train station to the next meet up.

Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Sep 7, 2000
Why not buy a smart car that way everyone would be happy as you'd have your new car and it'd be super efficient and if you hassle the dealers enough you might even get one of the one's with the Mclaren logos on the side like DC has
Btw I forgot this yesterday but the web address for the African safari is www.africam.com and currently there's another swarm of elephants bathing in a watering hole, a rhino, 3 leopards and earlier there was a lion which was soooo close to the camera it was amazing

Wow, the elephants!
So where are we meeting then? At what time and for how long?
