I certainly don't want to drive to a pub. and have to drive back again that night. I didn't see it on the front page, I had to search for it.

There must be trains from Oxford to London and back again? Surely? That's not to much to ask for in this day and age, is it?

I think the main problem is that all the trains to Oxford from anywhere in the world seem to get diverted through Birmingham
Besides we could always start in Oxford an err...punt down the Thames to London, I'm sure we'd be really effective at that
*has visions of many drunk people punting down the river Thames in the middle of the night singing at loud volumes and then missing the punt parking spaces and ending up floating past the London eye and straight out the other side of London before arriving on a beach somewhere in France*
hehehehehehehe, maybe not although we could be the first people to cross the Channel in a punt

With one hell of a long pole
imagine the papers:
"Punt miraculously survives Force 8 Gale"
"Miracle Punt: the occupants were Drunk?"
"Douglas Adams denies responsibility after an h2g2 meetup goes horribly wrong..."

It all sounds like great fun, who's in charge, make a decision, please? So I can book a night off work and however many days off from my child.

I think Abi's in charge.
Anyway I have to interject with the entirely unrelated fact that I have found such a cool website which links up to webcams throughout a national park/animal reserve in Africa and in the past hour I have seen 4 giraffes (one was even drinking and at night too so that's like a very rare sight apparently ) 9 elephants on one cam, 4 elephants on another, 3 hippopotamouses and a strange unidentifiable cat type creaturey thing...it's so good

Slough is like the East End of London only less posh. Just a bit from Heathrow, about 2 miles.
Come friendly bombs and fall on slough.

Isn't Slough one of the 7 deadly sins?

Oh yeah, I don't think that Sloughs a good meeting place either... My vote predictably still goes to Oxford

There's a cheap, reliable and 24-hour coach service called the 'Oxford Tube' which runs between Gloucester Green coach station in Oxford and Victoria in London via Shepherd's Bush, Notting Hill and Marble Arch. A return costs under a tenner (or it used to, anyway...) and the journey takes approx. 90 mins. Pre-booking of tickets is totally unnecessary too, 'coz there are always seats, and almost always a bus waiting at either of the terminals.
